Question Moving to Mayfield Heights, Apartment Help??

I am moving to Mayfield Heights for new job assignment starting Jan 2007.

Do you have any experience / suggestion about Plymouth Park Apartments, Golden Gate Garden apartments, Coppertree Apartments or The Village at Mayfield apartments in Mayfield Heights, OH 44124 area? Is it safe there. Some one said If you work in Mayfield Village but live in Mayfield Height you will have to pay citi tax for both?

I was mainly looking at Plymouth Park or Golden Gate (near Golden Gate Plaza) due to their comparitively flexible lease terms. But, sitting here in Milwaukee, WI I do not have any idea about the location and the apartment.

Any tips / suggestion are welcome?

Thanks,
Shy

All I know is about 5-6 yrs. ago the tenants at Golden Gate apts. was cited for not fixing anything in the apts.
Marsol Towers is in Mayfield Hts. as is another across the street I can't remember the name right now.Plymouth Park is a good choice
Your best bet is to call a realtor in Mayfield Hts....Realty One would be a good choice and ask about the various apartment complexes. Another idea is to log on to the plaindealer website. You should be able to find somethingl.

Default not the tenants

the owner was cited. The tenants withheld rent and it hit the papers.

I reccomend Pepperwood and Hamilton House. They are both good properties. Hamilton House can be arrogrant sometimes but it is a good complex. It's always clean and from what I know, the service is good. Pepperwood is more family geared especially since they have townhomes.

For location, I like Gates Mills Place because it is easy to walk to Eastgate and the surrounding area. It also doesn't deal with as much traffic as you can take backroads through Gates Mills to avoid the Mayfield Road mess. If you can get in the north building at GMP, it is a good deal. The other buildings are so-so. GMP is also very diverse.

The Village complex is nice, but it is correct, you will pay employment taxes to the Heights but also pay local taxes to Mayfield Village since they are different municipalties. Crime wise, the area is very safe. I have lived here for 2 years and am happy I moved here.

I have been a resident of Mayfield Heights for the past 13 years. I used to live in Plymouth Park ( changed its name 2 years ago to Arbor Court) from 1996 to 1999. I currently work for Metropolitan Pool Service Company as a Pool Attendant/Lifeguard. Last summer I worked at Marsol apartments, Gates Mills Place, The Hamptons ( in Beachwood) , and currently at Pine Ridge ( in Willoughby Hills). I will try to give you as much info as possible. If you have any other questions dont hesitate to ask.

Plymouth Park ( a.k.a Arbor Court)

It is a two story apartment complex located right across from EastGate Plaza which is the second largest plaza in Mayfield Heights. As you can probably predict there will be a lot of traffic. Mayfield Heights is notorious for its traffic due to the numerous stores in the area. I liked my stay at Plymouth Park. Sometimes the neighbors living above me made a little bit too much noise due to walking but it wasn't bad at all. I believe the rent is one of the cheapest out of all the Mayfield Heights apartments. Just like at any other place in Mayfield Heights you will find a wide array of people ... You will find a lot of Russians ( like myself), Indians, Chinese, and other nationalities. IF you dont like traffic or people of different origins you should find another place to live. Overall, Mayfield is a very safe place to live and that is the case with Plymouth Park as wel..

Gates Mills Place

Its looks completely different than Plymouth Park. All of the buildings are high rise. Its considered to be one of the most expensive and luxirious apartments in the area. The prices differ due to the building that you stay in. Building A is the cheapest. While I worked at Gates Mills Place I met a handful of people. There are a lot of Russia grandparents and rich snobby ( depending on who you ask) people. The location is a little bit quiter. It is relatively close to Eastgate Plaza and A major hospital. Gates Mills Place is the complete opposite of Plymouth Park.

Golden Gate

I am least familier with Golden Gate apartments. In structure they are relatively similar in structure and reputation. Its located really close to Golden Gate Plaza which is absolutely enormous. Just like in Plymouth Park you will have to face a lot of traffic.

The Mayfield Heights area is VERY VERY safe ... We hardely ever have any crime. Just look at the crime index. If you are looking for lots of shopping, traffic, middle income families, and diversity than Mayfield Heights is for you.

Default coppertree

I currently live in the coppertree apartments. Overall, I feel very safe here. I have lived here almost 2 years with no problems, no crime. The maintenance people are very quick to fix any problems (such as a leaky faucet, about the worst thing that has happened) and they are quick to plow the snow, and are very friendly as well. The free heat and free parking are very nice, and they gave us a very good deal on the rent (cheaper than what is on the website) when we moved in.

It's fairly quiet here, we can almost never hear the neighbors. Most of the residents are older/elderly, foreign people, and some families. The building seems very solidly built, so the floors don't squeak and maybe once a month I hear some sound from the neighbors like a loud movie, but seriously so quiet I almost doubt other people live here.

There are a few problems - we are so close to the highway that I have never used the balcony. I have chairs on the balcony but they always get covered with a black sooty-dirt from the highway. Maybe if I had an apt on the other side of the bldg this wouldn't be a problem. Also, the laundry rooms are sometimes full, and sometimes flood a little when all the washers are going. But no problems in my apt.

The pool is also pretty small, and the workout facility is really small, all the equipment squeaks like it will fall apart, but I do see other people using it.

We are also very close to alot of shopping, across the street from a movie theatre, target, walmart, walgreens, starbux and the like. But you still need to use your car as it's hard to cross the street on foot, due to the traffic.

The highway is very convenience though, you can get downtown in 25 minutes along one of the least congested highways in the area.

Default Moving in Aug.

I'm going to be moving to Mayfield Hts. at the end of August after I get married. In the past my fiancé and I looked at Coppertree, Hamilton house, and Mayland towers (back behind the Boneyard). We were told by some former tenants that the Marsol wasn't a very good place. I'm wondering if anyone else has an opinion.
I'm going to have some time to look around in May, does anyone have some other places that would be good to look at? I'd like to be within 10-15 min drive time from the intersection of 271 and Wilson Mills? I'm guessing it would be good to stay north of Mayfield Rd. (322) unless they get the construction finished soon.
Thoughts or ideas? Thanks.

Overall, Mayfield is a good place to live.. Been here for the last 30yrs... Plymouth Park now Arbor Court from what i hear, has gone down in quality.. I will agree with the previous poster, hamilton house is nice.. Avoid Mayland towers, (i dont know much about the facility, just the area). the Boneyard is in alot of trouble, fights, etc.... it is the new eastgate coliseum (if you think back - great place but lots of fights, hangouts, etc).... Marsol Towers.... would depend greatly if i had kids.. seems like the pedophiles live there (there is a website to check this, but i cant remember where)... otherwise goodluck..

ps.. you will have traffic issues also for the next year or so.... mayfield is under construction for 2 more years, and it is a major pain in the butt!!!

I lived for 16 months at the Marsol.

Great place! NO problems. Good Maint. staff.
