NYC, DC and VA they're all used to it because they have the experience of Wall Street, politics and tech companies moving into their cities. There blues isn't anything like Cleveland's. I would like Cleveland to see some growth but I wouldn't want that type of growth either.

DISCLAIMER: I am being sarcastic.
I wouldn't be so defensive. There's no doubt that Cleveland gets a worse wrap then it deserves. But that doesn't mean there isn't a bunch to criticize.

I do think it is rather tasteless (or odd at least) that the expats spend so much time talking about Cleveland and yet state they wouldn't ever move back.

I didn't live there but was close enough and visited often enough to have seen this happen. I disagree with the vanilla part though. I think Seattle back in the day was anything but.

Not trying to be defensive here, just sarcastic. I know there's a lot to criticize about Cleveland, I'm not a homer I even made a post about it. We've heard about the criticisms about Cleveland all our lives from the media (local and national), Clevelanders, Cleveland expats, celebrities, comics. We've heard enough criticisms to last a lifetime.

IMO, the expats may have moved out of Cleveland but it's still home so they feel they root for Cleveland to succeed because it's home and/or they still have family and friends still living here. I do agree that it's tasteless for expats to talk about Cleveland but they say they wouldn't ever move back. Also, to the people in their current city there's a perception that they left home because they hate home. Some won't move back because they're spoiled or they feel their current city gives them more social mobility or just an ego thing.

How is it tasteless for expats to talk about Cleveland? Or that it's hard to move back?

Yeah, I get that about rooting for your birthplace. Especially when it's an underdog. I don't know...guess I'm more interested and invested in Cleveland than my past home cities because I live here and enjoy it.

It's not a big deal.

He was talking about how expats talk about Cleveland but then they say they'll never move back. I think he feels that Cleveland expats talk about Cleveland constantly but dis the city. He was just pointing out how some talk about the city of Cleveland, positively or negatively, but they say they'll never move back. In his opinion, he feels that why should people talk about Cleveland if they have no intention on moving back and you're happier in your current city. He feels that they should just focus on their current city since they made the choice to move there.

I also think they feel like that their giving there .02 on your Amazon didn't pick Cleveland as well as what Cleveland needs to do to attract more people to grow because they're comparing it to their current cities and most of them live in boomtown cities, where they have multiple opportunities for jobs, or as I always say (jokingly) that they're handed things because they won't be out of work long in those cities. I always say that there handed things because companies will always move there plus they don't know what it's like to go a long period of time unemployed or ever having to move out of town for work. Or, even their cities being in America's psyche as an example of the collapse of decay, foreclosure, high crime and blight. I think want to see Cleveland do great because some do want to move back to the city. Some only moved for the opportunities not because it was their dream city, or they wanted to be around the glitz and glamour, politics or be a celebrity.

You also said it is tasteless. Sounds like nonsense to me.

I didn't say it was tasteless, the other poster did. Since we're on the subject, why do you feel it's nonsense? I'm kind of glad that Cleveland didn't get Amazon.
