LOL as someone from Pittsburgh that moved to Cleveland i speak much differently. Pittsburgh has nothing on Cleveland. Geez even Bill Cowher left Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh and Buffalo have been the two only large metros in the nation that have been declining in population for over two decades. That tells you something.

^LOL people in Pittsburgh have nothing but bad things to say about Cleveland. The reason being because of the Browns. They have no other good information to back up on Cleveland.

you said it.............
if cleveland is so bad why is a "steeler" cruising on the ohio board?
Anyway, loved the pics as our family was relocated to Alabama for a job. I even miss the winter, at least if it's cold it snows! Believe me it gets cold at night here down in the 20's etc. I thought the south was warm haha. More pics of the Lake if anyone has them, we left our boat in Ohio with our folks but brought our jet ski down. I sure miss eating perch and lazing on the lake in summer!

I still have my boat up in Rocky River. I will really miss boating on the lake this summer. I am moving the boat down here to Cincinnati, and will be boating on the river. Did you ever take your boat to the Kelly Islands? That was a great area to go boating. We had to drive to Sandusky, but ended up taking the boat from there.

yes Kelly's is great for the whole family, whereas Put-in-Bay was party central. Not that it wasn't fun either! They have natural springs on the island and really neat tours you can take. I have never boated on the river, we left our boat with my Dad he'll use it to fish alot and we can go on it anytime we visit. We did bring our jetski since there is a huge inland lake down here, no more choppy LakeErie riding (even though I'll miss it) and a few rivers, but most of them are non motorized boats only.

How can you move your boat to Cincinnati if you live in Dormont, PA. You are such a lying bastard. Pittsburgh is far better than Cleveland too. Cleveland's crime rate is out of control and it is the nation's poorest city. Also Oakland, Squirrel Hill, Bloomfield, and the Southside beat any neighborhood in Cleveland. I don't hate Cleveland at all, but it still has a lot of problems that you definately don't acknowledge because you think Ohio is perfect even though you don't even live in Ohio, paintballer.
Cleveland once again nation's poorest city

Cleveland is the poorest major city in the United States according to Census Bureau figures.
The city has 32.4 percent of its residents living in poverty, ranking it poorest among cities with populations of 250,000 or more.
Cleveland had been ranked as the nation's poorest city in 2004, but last year improved to 12th in the poverty rankings. This year's figures put it back in the top spot.
Cleveland also ranked last in median household income among major cities, at just over $24,000 per year.
Mayor Frank Jackson acknowleged the report and said, "Cleveland remains impoverished because we have failed to put together an appropriate plan that is effective in reducing poverty."
"In order to have a measurable, long-lasting impact on poverty, we need to focus on education, creating an investment environment in the City and the region, and improving workforce development," the mayor added in a prepared statement issued by his City Hall office.
George Zeller, an economic research analyst, says experts do not agree on the accuracy of these rankings, but says they do agree that the figures show economic problems for the City of Cleveland and the region.
"Whether we go up or down in the rankings may be statistically questionable," says Zeller.
"What we do know is there is serious economic trouble all across Northeast Ohio."

^Moderators
Pittsburgh better than Cleveland, you're in the wrong forum buddy. Are you trying to prove a point? Pittsburgh is the fastest shrinking large metropolitan area in the country. And actually Paintballer lived in metro Cleveland and now lives in metro Cincinnati. Also any list where an entity can move that much i,e, 1-12 and back again in ONE year is highly questionable. This has been discussed on urbanohio and skyscrapercity many times already. There is a poverty problem in Cleveland as there is in most of the large cities in the country. Lastly Cleveland's crime rate is bad, but definitely not the worst in the country.

I'm not taking sides here, but there are a couple of things I want to point out.
Regarding population loss, it is true that the Pittsburgh metro area is losing population faster than the Cleveland metro area (Pittsburgh's loss from 2000-2005 was 1.9% whereas Cleveland's was 1.0%). However, if you exclude natural changes in population (i.e., those resulting from births and deaths), the Cleveland metro is actually shrinking faster than the Pittsburgh metro. From 2000-2005, Cleveland had a net natural population increase of 30,834 whereas Pittsburgh had a net natural decrease of 16,086. OTOH, Cleveland had a net decrease due to migration of 51,672 and Pittsburgh had a net decrease due to migration of 25,799; if you exclude international migration and only look at domestic migration, Cleveland's net decrease was 71,196 whereas Pittsburgh's net decrease was 38,750. http://www.census.gov/population/www...bsa-02-fmt.xls
Regarding the city crime rate, while Cleveland isn't the worst in the country, it is one of the worst. It was recently rated as the 7th worst of 371 U.S. cities based on the FBI's 2005 Uniform Crime Report. The only two major cities rated worse than Cleveland were St. Louis and Detroit. OTOH, while I don't have any stats in front of me to quote, I recall reading that the crime rate for the entire Cleveland metro area is at or slightly below the average for all metro areas. However, Pittsburgh's crime rates (both city and metro) are lower than Cleveland's.
