^^ When you put it in a list like that, it is quite staggering the amount of development going on in the area.

Yesterday, an article from the Plain Dealer:

Medical mart and convention center to cost $40 million more than expected | cleveland.com

Convention center is going to cost $40 million more but is still going forward. In addition, the exhibit space has been cut 40,000 square feet down to 230,000. This was caused by a redesign of the ballroom.

I'm glad they're still tweaking layouts to make the best CC/MM possible. Hopefully they end up breaking ground this year...

On a side note, the people in the comment section are morons. Sometimes I really do understand why Cleveland has been in decline for so long.

^^ the comments are ridiculous, but not everyone wants the same thing (for Cleveland or themselves).

Some good news out of Ohio City and the new "Market District:"

1) Charter One grants to help build up West Side Market neighborhood | cleveland.com

2) Great Lakes Brewing Company is expanding, almost doubling in production size by 2012/2013.

I really can't believe some of the comments that are made there, some people really don't have a clue. There are times when I am embarrassed for the posters because it does not make any sense.

It's not even that they have different "wants." It's more about what Flee said - people are bashing it without having a clue. If you want to bash a project, fine; but at least understand the entire project and be able to support your argument with facts. I wonder how many of the people even read the entire article.

Anyway, the WSM neighborhood getting grants is fantastic. While Ohio City is one of the few decent areas left inside the city proper, it could always use more investment and development. Charter One is doing a great thing for the city and it definitely shows. University Circle is now one of the fastest growing areas in the city. Gordan Square is still rough around the edges but it's progressing. Hopefully Ohio City sees the same benefit.

I have heard it said, but the worst thing to Cleveland is Clevelanders themselves. Always so negative... Sometimes you can't blame them though, with the corruption in Cleveland and Cuyahoga County, they really haven't got much out of their elected officials. Frank Jackson is a terrible mayor.
