What an ornery fellow. I don't have any desire to see the project fail. I just didn't agree with you that it was improper to allow the public to vote on the diversion of tax revenues to a capital project mostly benefiting a private entity.

The withdrawal of the referendum petitions is a positive politically, as it means the original opponents of the project have agreed that the project is sufficiently worthy to merit the removal of their objections. This is a good outcome for the community.

Weston, Citymark plan apartments for Warehouse District parking lots: First Look (photos) | cleveland.com

The above links address three surface lots, although it's been a while since I've heard anything regarding the Weston Citymark proposal. Also, the surface lot on the west side of Public Square east of the Weston proposal, which I believe is still owned by Jacobs (who has a major high rise and redevelopment plan for the Flats West Bank), has long been rumored to be the future home of Sherwin Williams HQ. There is nothing concrete to demonstrate this other than rumblings and speculation from those in commercial real estate. We are in agreement that DT CLE has far too many surface lots, but the feeling is there will be fewer and fewer over the course of the next decade+.
It's great to see residential development in CLE generally and some rental high-rises in particular. Some wonder when condo high-rises will take off or why there aren't any going on in CLE:

U.S. Cities Have A Glut Of High-Rises And Still Lack Affordable Housing | Newgeography.com

Coincidentally, last week I read that a N Lake Shore Drive condo building in Chicago was converting to a rental building.

Default Marble Room debuts in old National City Bank lobby

Another of Cleveland's once grand bank lobbies has been converted to use as a restaurant.

The old National Bank lobby debuts today as the Marble Room. It sounds as if it's definitely worth a look (Cleveland is so lucky to have Steve Litt, a great architecture reporter with a great historical perspective and love for the city).

Much more so than with the popular Heinen's at the Cleveland Trust Rotunda, it sounds as if the old bank lobby's accoutrements have been incorporated into the restaurant's design.

<<Chest-high check writing desks supported by marble slabs carved with scrolled floral motifs and elaborate molding have been turned into high-top tables that seat eight, for example.>>

I wonder if the massive Union Commerce (Union Trust, Huntington Bank) bank lobby, the largest bank lobby in the world when it debuted in 1924, will be able to top the Marble Room when reincarnated, perhaps as a party room, as part of the renovation of the now 925 Building.

Yeah, that's not quite how it went. But, all is well and the obstructionists are out of the way. Good riddance to them and now let's move the project forward. It is 100% officially back on track.

Eh, they'll be back around at some point. One would hope that they put all of that spare time and energy into actually improving their community next time instead of trying to ruin another's plans simply because they believe their cut wasn't big enough. They caved like a poorly built stick house in the wind once the backlash against them began.

Oh right, they'll be back but glad this project is moving forward. Wonder if they'll go after the nuCLEus project as well.

CLE already has the MLB All Star Game in 2019 and hopefully can pull of the NBA All Star Game in February 2020...

Looking forward to reading the reviews on this place, especially the food. The setting is stunning.

I hope the 925 Building utilizes the old Midday Club on the roof of the building; the Midday Club was the space designed as the waiting room for expected dirigible (zeppelin) service. Great views of the lake from up there and would make a nice restaurant/special events space as well, and hopefully remain open to the public in some form, not just residents/hotel guests.
