Flats East Bank financing set to close Tuesday, despite a dispute with the architect | cleveland.com
^So this means that the new Convention Center/Med Mart ($465 million) will break ground on Jan 14, and the Flats East Bank ($275 million) may even break ground sooner. Two of Cleveland's biggest projects are soon to be underway!

Side note: the site is now clear for the construction of the new MOCA ($32 million) in University Circle. Expect to see them break ground sometime in January as well.

Let's hope that the dispute with architect firm does not cause any more delays, etc. Def. some good news though!

An uplifting and interesting about how Cleveland may have finally turned the corner--this year may be the year:

Cleveland's going up: New projects, pioneers poised to give city a lift: Joe Frolik | cleveland.com

You might call me crazy -- don't worry, you won't be the first -- but I think that in 10 years, we will look back on 2010 as the year that Cleveland turned the corner and began to regain its status as a vibrant American city.

Yeah, and then you read all of the idiotic comments afterward. I sincerely hope we can overcome that nucleus of stupidity.

People are so idiotic it makes me laugh. Either they live in the suburbs and have no idea what is going on in the city, or they moved out of Cleveland decades ago and still like to make fun of it.

Are you kidding me?! Cleveland is on a roll. I seriously can't get over all these projects that will be under way.

Do you have any renderings?

It really is amazing on how many projects will be underway very soon! This is the best I could come up with:

Project Summary - Greater Cleveland Aquarium, Cleveland Ohio

The aquarium is going to be in the current Powerhouse building on the West Bank of the Flats where the Improv is currently located. The Imporv is going to move next door to Shooters.
