I did not read all these posts, so while I may duplicate what someone says (sorry!). I think Shaker Square area is one of the more hip of the African American (but actually quite diverse) leadership communites in the city of Cleveland. Somewhat less urban, Shaker and Cleveland Heights also have movers and shakers of all races.Yes these areas have socio economic diversity as well. As someone may have mentioned, the Flats (at this time pretty much just Stonebridge condos) has a ethnically diverse professional demographic, although less so than the other places I mentioned.I briefly saw some farther suburban communities mentioned. I do not think they would be exciting for a city girl and in my mind represent "black flight" -the same thing whites did, just running further and further from the city and making it less economically diverse. In Cleveland at least, I think professional/affluant African Americans have been a little slower to warm up to urban living/downtown by choice. Someone mentioned Detroit Shoreway. I know you would be more than welcome in Detroit Shoreway, although If you want to live among other professional AA's, there may not be has many as you would hope b/c of my aforementioned opinion. I would not buy for at least a year. Do lots of exploring.Welcome!! I live in the City and love it, btw
