Default Lakewood Area - Air Quality

Hello everyone....I am looking to move from just outside Charlotte NC to Lakewood area. I am still doing my research though. The one thing that concerns me right now is the air quality.
Moderator cut: linking to competitors sites is not allowed rates air quality "8", which is very low. Natl average is 42 or something like that.
Anyway, my daughter has asthma, which I am praying she outgrows as some kids do, but obviously the air is a concern.
I really thought being close to the lake that air would be cleaner, thus a better rating.
I could understand if we lived in middle of Cleveland with city polution and traffic. But Lakewood? We are very much in love with Lakewood / Rocky River at this time, and would like to make our home there. Lakewood Observer had one article about funny smells or polution in the morning?!?!?
I am of course researching stuff on internet, so we'll see.

Thank you in advance!

By the way, anyone has any questions on Charlotte NC, please PM me.
Overall it's like this....hot, and more hot, locals keep to themselves, mold and crap growing on your house all the time. It's still hot. Just had 72 degrees Jan 6th. Summertime I cannot enjoy my deck. Feels like you're swimming in the humidity. Sun feels like it's baking you!! No recreation, no culture, no parks to hang out.

Most environmental data is gathered by county rather than specific towns. In this case, it might mean that other parts of the county are more polluted than the specific town you are interested in. One site that has loads of environmental and pollution data is scorecard dot org. Look up the pollution report card for zip code 44107 and there you go. Cuyahoga county statistics show it is among worst 10 percent of counties for air pollution in all categories in the US.
The charts show Cuyahoga county to have 37 percent clean air days, 56 percent moderate air days and 1 percent of unhealthful air days. Charlotte Mecklenberg county has 56 percent clean air days, 45 percent moderate air days, 0 percent unhealthful air days.
Coal buring power plants are also a concern in many midwest metro areas, especially for children with asthma. Look at the coal burning power plant locator map in website called cleartheair dot org.
