Default For a LONG ISLAND feel... Where to go??

For anyone out there that is familiar with Long Island where the taxes are enormous where on the west side of Cleveland would give you a Long Island feel with less taxes. I have been out of Long Island for 8 years and I miss it, but I can't see moving back there because of the taxes. Besides I am currently in S. FL where the taxes, insurance, and heat is through the roof. It is time to get out. Looking for that Long Island feel. Have family in Cleveland so I thought we would look there.

Well, what is it exactly about Long Island that you're looking for? I've always felt (and talked with others that feel similarly) that the eastern suburbs of Cleveland have a more east coast/northeast feel, while the western suburbs have a more midwestern feel. You may have a hard time finding anything like Long Island in the western suburbs of Cleveland, but there are a lot of nice areas in that neck of the woods that you should consider looking in to.

I disagree. East Coast feel are the immediate west side suburbs - IE Lakewood, Rocky River, Fairview, Berea, etc and same with immediate east side suburbs... Cleveland Hts, Shaker, Euclid, etc. Further out on the east side is anything but east coast feel. Whenever I am in Mentor or Aurora to Beachwood or Geagua - I can't help but feel in a laid back (ie midwestern feel) areas that are relatively rural compared to my west side of cleveland familiarities. Of course I have noticed you do seem to put the East side on a higher level - passive aggressively like in this post I just quoted you on. And Clevelander, have you ever been to Long Island? Sure, it's east coast - but it's mainly REALLY nice areas. And yes, I have family there and I could compare their area to say Westlake over Painseville. Again, please stop saying they wouldn't find anything on the west side when you probably haven't been outside your house.
