well it is spelled Cleveland. And as far as safety, it depends on your definition. Even the most safety minded person can find a place that meets their comfort level... in the city even. 
I would disregard the fearful warnings of people that do not even live in the city now.
Is there a lot to do?
yes. but I should have asked what do you like to do?
And I'm italian! Do you guys have a big italian community??
Well not sure how big, but they are here for sure and the culture is represented and celebrated.
