Hey all.....My wife and I recently moved back to Cleveland. We are in our late 20's and have a dog. We are looking for an area that we can call home. Reasonable priced starter homes are important. Looking to spend 175k max. I work in Independence so a half hour commute is preferred. Looking for nice town with low crime. If there is anything else that needs clarification please let me know.
Where do you reccomend?? |

check into the posts on Lakewood. Most of it is low crime and dog friendly (except I think they are trying to ban pitbulls). Lots of nice houses, and plenty to do right in the neighborhood.

I figured that someone would mention Lakewood. The only thing that I dont like about that area is how close the houses are together. I feel as though there is little to no privacy. Also I was hoping to find something with a yard for my dog. If I am not mistaken, not too much in the way of yards in Lakewood.

If you'll be working in Independence, check out the Brecksville/Broadview Heights/North Royalton/Strongsville areas. You'll find plenty of homes in that area with decent sized yards.
If you don't mind driving a little further, out on the west side of Cleveland you can check out Westlake/Rocky River/Avon/North Ridgeville. I'm not as familiar with the east side, though you may find homes there in the Lyndhurst/Beachwood/Shaker Heights area if you want to live on the east side. If you don't know already, people here make a big deal about the differences between the east and west sides of Cleveland. |

I am currently renting in Broadview Heights and this is a great area. Lots of restaurants, grocery stores, car care, pharmacy, bars, and easy access to the turnpike and I-77.
