Job in Mayfield Heights, where to live?
Hi all,
My husband has been offered a job in Mayfield Heights so we're researching the area. We have a 13 year old so schools and other children in the area are important to us. As is safety (obviously) and commute time.
We can afford up to $300,000 for a house, so from what I've seen so far that really only cuts out the super fancy areas.
What areas around Mayfield Heights would you suggest?, and why? Any extra information you can share is greatly appreciated.

schools info
There are a lot of great areas that way. I would suggest you look at the website greatschools.net there is a feature that will allow you to compare school districts by test scores, etc. I would put in mayfield heights, shaker, beachwood, chagrin falls, etc. There is a section called teacher/students. When you click on it, it gives you demographics of student population and stats on the teachers. It's hard to say which area would fit best with you, there are so many great schools/communities up there.
I would start with the school site, once you get a few schools, check out the individual schools' website and that might help you narrow your search.

How big a house are you looking for? Try Highland Heights and Mayfield (Mayfield Schools), Richmond Heights (Richmond Heights local school district), Lyndhurst (South Euclid-Lyndhurst schools), and Beachwood. Going east of these areas homes get MUCH more pricey. The areas I mentioned all have homes in your price range, have good-excellent schools and are in a 3-5 mile radius of Mayfield Heights. just for reference in Richmond Heights $300,000 will get you a new or newer home with 4 bedroms 2.5-4 bathrooms, living, dinning, kitchen and family room. The area is about 10 miles from downtown Cleveland and about 5 miles from the University Circle Cultural district. Hope this helps.

The Mayfield City School district is very solid ( Mayfield Heights, Mayfield Villiage, Highland Heights, and Gates Mills).... Highland Heights will probably get you the prettiest house without breaking the bank.... Gates Mills has some really good looking houses but they are mostly in the 400,000 and up range. Highland Heights has most of the qualities that you are looking for...
There are 2 community colleges in the area.....Lakeland CC and Cuyahoga CC.... Lakeland is the one thats closer to the Mayfield Heights area.... I am currently in my second year at Lakeland and absolutely love it... I was a decent student in high school ( above 3.0 ) and was forced into going to a CC by my parents.. It turned out to be the greatest decision of my life... I am currently a straight A student and my future options seem endless...
I would highly recommend the Mayfield Heights area for education, employment, and the short commute time to Cleveland..

I grew up in Mayfield
I loved growing up in Mayfield. I would suggest you look for house in Highland Heights, North of Wilson Mills like the area off Lander Extention. In Mayfield Village look off SOM (Route 91) Aintree Park and Aintree Park North. I grew up off Mayfield Road and it was great but the traffic has gotten so bad. Anywhere you end up will be fine. There really isn't a bad neighborhood. If you like a little more space you should look in Chesterland located a few miles east in Geauga County. It is a great area. Good luck in your search.
