Interracial families
I am a young, white women who is looking to move to the Cleveland area to work as a nurse at Rainbow Babies. My boyfriend is black and between the two of us we have 4 beautiful children all mixed, black and white. We are looking for a middle class neighborhood where our children will be able to attend a school without having any 'problems', we do not want our children to be the only mixed kids in the neighborhood, we want them to be comfortable and get a good education. My proximity to work is also important, i don't want to commute far.

Shaker Heights, Cleveland Heights , University Heights, South Euclid...for starters. Of those, Shaker Heights has the most diverse school system and certainly a bi racial child would not stand out. Cleveland Heights overall population is very nicely diverse, but the public school population does not reflect that, especially by high school. All of these communites would be 15 minutes or less from Rainbow. Cleveland Heights and Shaker Heights being the closest. You might also look into the Cleveland nieghborhood of Shaker Square. Some streets go to Shaker schools. If you went to Cleveland public around there, the school population would not be diverse (primary African American).
It is smart to live near work when you can, that is the best gift you can give your family-more of your time!

About the same as Clevelandgal said. Shaker Heights, Cleveland Heights, Euclid, South Euclid I think would all be fine. For the westside maybe Lakewood, and definitely look into Lorain and Elyria. The main places you might have to watch out for are areas that are 85%+ on race. A lot of suburbs on the westside are almost all white, and I wouldnt recommend those. Pretty much any neighborhood with a mixed population that seems to be doing okay as far as not that much racism would be fine.

Definitely DON'T look into Lorain or Elyria; you would just be tripling or quadrupling your commute for virtually no reason. Pretty much anywhere in the Heights/Hillcrest area (Cleveland Heights, Shaker Heights, University Heights, Beachwood, Lyndhurst, Mayfield Heights, Richmond Heights, Highland Heights) would work for you. Just tour these cities and find out what you're most comfortable with.
