Commute from Hudson to Shaker Heights?
Hoping you all can help us out. Moving from Maine to Ohio, husband working in Shaker Heights for UH. Have been toured through Chagrin Falls, Pepper Pike, Orange, Solon, and while all very nice, have yet to find "the" place. Thinking Hudson. Husband worked and lived there years ago, coming from New England may feel more like home. Will head out soon to see it firsthand, but...
What's the commute time to Shaker from Hudson? Any longer really than say the commute from Chagrin or Solon?
After 100+ inches of snow here last year, I could live with less snow. Is there a big difference from Hudson snow to "lake effect" snow - or is it a wishful thinking moment for me?
We have two kids in elementary schools, which is why these towns have been highlighted for us.
Thanks or any help - excited to find the place and sell here!

I would reckon shaker to hudson would be about 25 mins on a good day. Solon may be a little closer for you, but not much. Chagrin would be your closest option.
Hudson is a nice town, not very diverse if that is what you are looking for but the schools are phenominal and its a nice tightknit community.
As for the snow, Summit County(hudson) doesnt get quite as much but there isnt that much of a difference to me

commute from hudson to shaker heights
Thank you for the info. My hesitation with Chagrin has been the real estate - either too expensive in the 800's, or when in the 5 - 6 range, older homes. Must admit I like being the first to live in the house!
Do you know anything about the Kenston school system? Seems some parts of Chagrin attend Kenston, some to Chagrin. I know Chagrin is said to be "the best" - but I see conflicting reports on the elementary school, which is where we head first.
Any insight would be great - thanks!

Check out Shaker. 5-600K will buy you a gorgeous home. And the money you save in gas, income tax and time spent sitting in a car will cover your property taxes.
Schools are very good, esp. Elementary & HS.

We left Hudson a couple of years ago, and we do miss it. The schools are great and the community is wonderful.....esp. for relo family. The newcomers club was a great means for me to meet others and to get involved right away in things like bunco, dinner clubs, play groups or whatever. It definitely has a NE feel to the area (which they try hard to maintain) and while the commute won't be "great"....it's so nice and peaceful to come home to. IMO. (Obviously we loved it there). Good luck to you! (Oh, and DM me if you need a RE agent referral.....the one we used was outstanding...and I am not one to normally refer people, but she really stood out among the crowd.)

I second this. You won't only save money but time - that is an extra couple of hours a week you could spend with your family.

Kenston or Chagrin Falls
Kenston is Bainbridge Township (44023) and Chagrin Falls is Chagrin Falls (44022). Both are excellent school systems. Bainbridge is a bit more country than Chagrin and in Geauga County. Chagrin Falls is in Cuyahoga County.
I think both Kenston & Chagrin rated in the top 1000 Public High Schools in the USA (and only Solon, Hudson and maybe one or two others from the Cleveland area made it).

Thanks for sharing some information. I hear you about Shaker, but feels too congested / city for me. Looking for a smaller feel.
