For the diversity you crave, you might like it along E 55th, or anywhere on the east side south of Superior and north of Quincy.
You certainly wouldn't want to live in any of those boring, safe, good schools areas with mostly whites. That would be terrible.
Good luck.

Look a few pages back in this forum. There has already been about 3 threads made just like this.
But, generally speaking: The Eastside anywhere between 55th to 116th, and the city of East Cleveland. More specifically just check the other threads.

Specifically, I live near Metro Health and LOVE it. Housing stock is cheaper than Tremont or Ohio city, but it is so close that we are practically there. The other great new neighborhood is Ecovillage and Detroit Shoreway. Houses are cheap, and while there aren't as many cool things yet, it is turning around FAST. New galleries, restaurants, housing. Ecovillage is adding green cottages and the new Eco Corner project on 58th and Lorain will do a lot to change the overall look of the area.

The neighborhoods of: Kinsman, Glenville, St. Clair-Superior, Central, Hough, Euclid-Green, Fairfax, Forest Hills, and East Cleveland are the worst right now.
Some of the worst areas Ive noticed are: Kinsman from E55th to E93rd. Central all the way. St. Clair from E71st to past Eddy rd. Wade Park all the way. Shaw all the way. Most of East Cleveland. All of E79th excluding near Euclid. Few areas on the westside also. In general the youll find the worst areas are from E55th to E116th from the Shoreway down to Union.
It seems that Fairfax and Hough have improved slightly, while Slavic Village and St. Clair-Superior have gotten worse. Tremont has improved with all the new housing and developments and the demolition of the Riverview Projects a few years back.

Agreed.
As far Central Avenue, new housing may have improved the look but its still one of the worst areas in the city. Virtually all of the Central Neighborhood is projects or section 8. Its not nearly as bad as the 80s and 90s though, in looks and crime. It was really really bad back then.
I remember being there in the early 90s I think...and wow.

It's not as well known as other neighborhoods for crime, but the Longmead-Puritas area has become one of the worst in the city. It's a shame too because when I was living there, it was still a decent area, but going off of last year's stats, there were 6 murders right along W. 130th (Bellaire) from Bennington to Memphis. There is no more than 5,000 people living in there, putting that area over 100 murders per 100,000 people.
Since Longmead-Puritas is a sub-neighborhood of West Park, people don't realize how bad it's gotten. But it's turned into the west side's Kinsman. It's not just killings though, the area is going through an epidemic or robberies as well.
The area around the Bellaire Garden projects is no joke, but the crime has pushed south of W. 130th and Bellaire and now nowhere in that neighborhood is safe anymore.
