Dimora and Russo
We have all seen the FBI in their windbreakers, taking mountains of evidence...
Saving my views on the topic until later, I would like to hear what people have to say about it...

I was born/raised in Cleveland. What I have to say is: I am not the least bit surprised and what took so long? Just cuirous, does anyone think this has anything to do with the millions that were missing when Mike White left office?

I wasn't living in Cleveland when Mike White left office, so am unfamiliar with that bit of drama...
I do know that The Plain Dealer brought a new editor onboard last year. Her name is Susan Goldberg. This year, The Plain Dealer has been doing some very interesting investigative reporting on Dimora and Russo, prior to the federal raids.
The Plain Dealer has been on these two and their questionable dealings for some time now... Kudos to The Plain Dealer! It would seem there is a new editor in town who isn't eager to wink and nod at the wheels which get greased...

Obviously the owner of this bar is a good buddy of his, or is it possible that Russo has a financial interest in the place? Thanks for the article.

Dean Salivaras is Greek, and the Greek business owners in CLE are a tight-knit community....
I think it's more likely that Dean was greasing Russo's wheels with cash and favours, to get favours in return...
Thing is, I worked for Dean Salivaras, and I know he isn't a man with the most stellar of ethics...
Since you seem interested in the story, and aren't local anymore, here is a PD link you might want to save to your favourites...
Cuyahoga County in Crisis: Continuing Coverage from The Plain Dealer - Cleveland.com
Here is a another interesting PD investigative report on Joe Santiago, a CLE councilman...
Cleveland Councilman Joe Santiago under scrutiny for help to bars - Cleveland Metro News – The Latest Breaking News, Photos and Stories from The Plain Dealer
Here is a story in the PD about the County Prosecutor investigating the disappearance of Santiago's emails after the PD requested all his public emails, and they were found misssing...
http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2008...es_missin.html
Tell you what... The PD, of late, is reminding me of the Washington Post during Watergate, and the reporters Mark Puente and Henry Gomez are reminding me of Woodward and Bernstein...
And, in my book, there is no higher compliment one could pay to a newspaper or it's reporters...

Thanks for the links. I try to read the Plain Dealer on-line every morning but the on-line version doesn't give as good coverage.

I've been reading both, and from what I can tell, every story on this topic is in the online edition, too...
I should'a figured you were reading the PD online...<g>
The Russo/Dean Salivaras story was on page 1 of the PD Tuesday.

A group of citizens in Cuyahoga County are using social network maps to "Map the Mess".

You can contribute either by name or anonymously. Here's an example of the maps we are starting to develop...
