Relocating to Cleveland Area
Hi, my husband and I are being relocated to the Cleveland area . His job is in Downtown and mine in Brooklyn Heights.
We are both professionals in the mid 30's (no children, no pets) and are looking for a safe upper-middle class neighborhood, close to both locations. We are not urban people, but we would like to have proximity to bars, restaurants, coffee shops, etc.
Any suggestions. Thanks!

I second that, Rocky River and Westlake. Also check out Lakewood too but its more urban and maybe Avon Lake in Lorain County.

Everyone's 'close' is different...
I guess the question should be asked!
To the OP (original poster):
What do you consider 'close'?

Hi, thanks for your responses. We would like to have a commute of 30 minutes or less, if possible.
I have been reading a lot about Shaker Heights. Is that our of our way?
Thanks again!

I don't know that I would love a Shaker to Brooklyn Hts commute. I would say your best bet would be west side or south side. Also check out Strongsville and Olmsted Falls. Both within 30 minutes of downtown and probably about 15 to Brooklyn.

Shaker to Bkn Hts is probably 20-25 minutes (Lee Road N. to 480W) and the longest stretch time wise is just getting to the highway. For your hubby, he can take the Rapid (rail) dowtown and that is maybe 1/2 hour and quite convenient.
Shaker might not be ideal for younger professionals, but if kids are in your future, it is a good home base to start.

I am a cleveland native. I have lived here for 30 years and it has the ups and downs. Upside cost of living isnt as bad as other states like chicago, ny or cali.... Then again we are losing plants and no big businesses are coming here. Our crime rate is off the charts and we are on pace to be the number one homocide city in the nation... Number one in foreclosures... And number one at worse city to live in... But hey got to love cleveland

HI,
hi I do lease apartments in warehous district downtown and it is a great neighborhood feeling here with close proximity to where your husband works and the other venues you are looking for with moderate pricing. If however you do not want it here the Cleveland Hts area is preety cool you just have to be selective of locations as some are better than others like everywhere else. give me a call if you like 216 781-4884
