I moved to Youngstown from Long Island, NY for my husband's job. I am applying for my law license and want to know how the job market is for lawyers ? I must say that I am discouraged as I have not seen any listings locally but rather only for jobs in Clev or Pitt. I really do not want to commute an hour... I left NY to get away from a crazy commute!

I can't imagine it's all that bad. I guess it all depends on what type of law you want to practice. Youngstown has at least a couple federal courthouses. You might also want to look in Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana Counties for jobs. Have you checked w/any of the local law offices??? You can always try and contact some of them. Here are one big local firms, just in case you've never heard of them:

The market for lawyers is tough everywhere in OH (I know from experience), it is not as Bad as NY but OH is flooded. You might be having trouble since you are not licensed in OH ( i hope you can waive in and not have to take the exam) The best approach is do mass mailing of resumes most of the mid to small size firms do not post there openings a lot of times. If you already in the area, join the Bar association, most of the time you'll here from there first when there is an opening. Also if you have an interest to work as a PD or a Prosecutor volunteer there if you like your work you will get the job as soon as there is an opening ( thats how I got my first legal job)
