I have heard that Oberlin is the most liberal city in Ohio (Westside in Lorain County).

The Cleveland area in general is very liberal though, Cleveland was rated as the 11th most liberal city in the US. Lakewood and Cleveland Heights are also very liberal like the other poster said. But yeah, the whole area/NE Ohio is pretty liberal.

I disagree the region is liberal. I do not think " liberal" should be confused with "democrat". The Cleveland area tends to vote democrat, but the area is not liberal at all. I think the democrat vote is from pro union folks and African Americans. Neither group is really liberal overall though. Some of Cleveland Heights is progressive enough to be called actual Liberal. Agree about Oberlin too although this is the due to the college. It is my understanding the locals are as conservative as the surrounding towns. There are liberal people here, but one would be hard pressed to find a large concentration anywhere.

Cleveland Hts, absolutely... I'm a tad iffy on Lakewood as a whole. Yes, the eastern part in and around the Gold Coast area are liberal to a degree, but I think we're comparing it to West Side standards, which is VERY conservative when you look at Cleveland overall. Plus, I think we're mainly looking at sexual orientation issues, as Lakewood isn't nearly as racially diverse as the Heights area overall... And don't forget, outside Birdtown and the Gold Coast/East end area, Lakewood is pretty conservative, esp along the lakefront/West areas like Clifton Park which, really, is little different than Rocky River, which is a conservative stronghold...

I'd rate Shaker Hts and Beachwood are my 2 and 3 most liberal suburbs after Cleveland Heights.

I would agree. The predominant outlook in the Cleveland area tends to be Populist Democrat -- fiscally liberal but socially conservative for the most part.
