Default new in america and ohio.. pls help!

Hi im from Canada and moving to Ohio for a clinical placement at Huron Hospital. My placement is for 6 months only. I was looking at Crystal towers on Terrace Rd but was told that East Cleveland is not the best of areas to live at.

Can someone familiar with the city and its surroundings please suggest an area where I could live at an affordable price? I need the place to be on a bus route to the hospital. Any advise would be appreciated.

Btw.. working at a hospital in east cleveland during the day isnt unsafe is it? I will be using public transportation.

Thank you very much!

East Cleveland is one the most dangerous, if not the most dangerous part of Cleveland. I would not recommend living there at all if you value your safety. Look into east side suburbs...perhaps Cleveland Hts, which is an older "suburb" area that has more of a city feel, or South Euclid, which is more typical suburban. It's been a while since I lived in Cleveland, but I think these areas should have direct bus routes. Here is the bus website so you can check it out...Timetables, Maps & Schedules | Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority.

I used to place temp nurses at Huron Hospital, and I think you would be ok on day shift. I never took the bus, so can't advise you there, but if you are smart and aware, you should be fine. Stay away on New Year's Eve...the locals are known for shooting off their firearms in celebration.

Good luck with your new job and welcome to America!

i live right in front of crystal towers...honestly you may not wanna move around here if you've never lived in a very impoverished area..because its mos def a rough area......but at the sametime, if you have a vehicle and you mind your own business..you could live here and never get bothered...its some guatemalan dudes just moved on my street..like 8 of them...they're the only hispanics in east cleveland, but no one harasses them, because they mind there own business...crystal towers for the most part is okay on the inside being its a high rise...i dont think they let just anyone walk up in there...but like i said i stay right in front of that building..and its not to much happeing in there...also east cleveland police have gotten alot stricter with there law enforcement some i'm sure crime is down..the abandon landscape makes it look worst than it is...
