>Worthless police in Cleveland, I got a ticket for turning right on red in CLeveland Heights, that's the definition of worthless police<
No, thats the definition of you blowing through a red light. HERE is the definition of worthless police:
Wifes car stolen and dropped 2 doors down from the home of a police LT or Captain. They find it 4 months later only because the guy whose house it is in front of wants to park there again and calls them. WORTHLESS
Neighbor across street continually shouts obscenities at my wife and to a lesser extent me. Uses the empty house next door to park his truck so he can use his other car to park it in to keep it from being stolen. He goes to work at 5AM honks his horn and turns up the radio full volume. All because he thinks my wife (falsley) touched his truck. Cops cant do anything because they are not actual threats. WORTHLESS
I catch a thief IN MY CAR stealing the radio. Rather than beat the crap out of him I get the cop sitting on his fat *** in the bank. He wont do anything. WORTHLESS.
He then says I have to call dispatch (wasting my time). I tell him this is a waste of time but he makes me stay. They put me on hold for 15 mins. WORTHLESS
Truck hits a tree in our neighborhood bringing a large branch down across the road. Cop drives by. Sees it. turns around and leaves. WORTHLESS.
Sis in law gets rear ended on interstate. Cop shows up, parks in front of both cars and brings both women into the back seat of cruiser for info. Asks other driver her license plate # which she does not know. Cop turns car on. Goes to next exit. Gets off. Gets back on going other way to next exit. gets back on interstate again to come up behind said car to get license plate. WORTHLESS.
>at least police in the city of Cleveland have some real crime to deal with, they put thereselves in harms way for us citizens more than any suburban cop.<
Some who do beats on Woodland Ave yes. Many however are never threatened by more than indigestion from too many doughnuts and paper cuts for speeding tickets. They do excel at double dipping doing private security while on official time tho.
>And by the way let the person from New York decide for themselves about Cleveland.<
They asked. Thats kind of the purpose of these boards.
>If you're coming from NYC you dont want to be living in the suburbs<
Especially since noone likes good schools and police that at least pretend to try to stop crime.
>in less<
unless. In less means in smaller quantity.
>you hate all the activity of a big city and that's why you're moving out.<
If they like an actual big city they wont leave NYC. Cleveland is a moderate sized city.
>I for one like living in the Cleve.<
Cleveland Cop? Drug dealer? Are you the guy I caught in my car?

Thanks for all the input. Just wanted to let you know we ended up moving to Ohio City. We like the small scale of the neighborhood. It is very walkable -- the West Side Mkt, Dave's Mkt, several restaurants, a dry cleaners, the RTA station are within a couple of blocks. And I like the fact that the neighborhood is racially mixed. But, right, relying on public transit is a real pain. Turns out my husband needs our only car most days for work. It's SO cold now that it's painful to be out there waiting for a bus/train; plus they don't run all that often.
We're moving from NYC, but we've lived in a lot of different cities. I feel like Cleveland has a lot of cool, sometimes hidden things to offer & it will be great exploring the city. I am disappointed, however, that there is so little shopping (as in for holiday presents) downtown. It's sad that there's no department store there anymore. The arcade building is AMAZING, but it's depressing that there are so few people shopping there. I understand that the city of Cleveland has lost a large population. Hopefully, that will reverse in the years to come.
We had temporary housing in the Warehouse District, but that was on the young side for us, although it was nice to see people out on the streets at least on Friday & Sat nights. The restaurants tended to be on the big side, and we did have some good food there but I prefer the smaller scaled places.
Lakewood, which a lot of people mentioned, was probably our second choice. It has a nice scale & appears to have a lot of small retailers. It will be fun to explore.
I'm happy to be here but I'm looking forward to springtime temperatures.

Ottomobeale, I just made a statement about Cleveland cops and suburban cops and the difference, which I still stick by. I love how you come on here and make it personal, it's pretty typical of the blogging society we live in, people would never have the guts to make comments like that if they were talking face to face. Anyways I did not blow through the light, I stopped, looked to see if cars were coming, and turned right, the sign was attached to a building across the street and was covered in snow so I did not see it, and am fighting the ticket. My point is the cop was sitting there waiting for people to do this, i saw him when I made the right turn sitting in a parking lot with his lights off across the street, cause he had nothing better to do, waste of tax payer money. I can't speak to your situation with cops but I know the cops in all neighborhoods of Cleveland, no matter how nice the neighborhood, still have a lot of crime to deal with and may not be able to deal with "lesser" situations, not that it feels like a small situation if you're in it. Sounds like you had a bad neighbor but what the heck can cops do about people being jerks and I didn't know it was their job to clean up tree branches. This is my point though people think cops can do everything and should do everything but that's just not the reality in our society.
Oh and sorry about my spelling error I didn't know I was being graded on grammar. What was the point of that anyways?
Lastly I have a masters in architecture and am a licensed profesional, and I like living in the city of Cleveland, you don't have to be a cop or a drug dealer or a thief, try not to be so bitter about your bad times here in Cleveland, and let people discuss the other side of the fence instead of attacking them. Now back to the matter at hand, I hate wasting time defending yourself on these worthless blogs, I'd rather just discuss the topics being brought up. Sorry for everybody who had to waste their time reading this.

Tres Gatos,
check out the boutiques on Detroit just West of 65th in Detroit Shoreways, your neighboring neighborhood. It's nothing big, but there are a few cool shops there, and alsoget on coolcleveland.com, they have an entire list of cleveland shopping places, and a ton of places nobody has heard of. And welcome to Cleveland.

Sorry about the last very cynical lines. I know you were not the turd I caught in my car. I get enraged even thinking how they sponge off city coffers not doing jack except tickets and double dipping private security while "on duty". That came through.
The cops part I stick by 100%. WORTHLESS. USELESS.

Congrats! Ohio City is a melting pot. It's one of my favorite Cleveland neighborhoods. Although, this time of year W.25th can get pretty loud with all the drunk college students

I'm glad you like it, if want to go shopping try Beachwood Place mall or South Park mall in Strongsville. I work in downtown Cleveland, if you have any questions contact me.
