Westpark sucks! What a dump! I was told it was great part of Cleveland when I first moved here, and learned quick what a joke that was.

And as far as crime... I've lived in NYC (and the only reason I dont live there is because of how much it costs to live there) and let me just say, there is more crime and grime in Cleveland! People break laws here that I didn't even know could be broken... there are so many run-down buildings it looks like a set for a post-apocolyptic low budget Italiansploitation film from the 70's. The public transit is crap, but I use it anyway since I don't drive (and the aggressiveness of the drivers around here is insane... whats with all the tailgaiting, cutting people off, drunk driving? and don't get me started on speeding... where the hell is so impeding that you need run everyone off the road? You're in Cleveland... you're not THAT important!)

Also, the other thorn in my side about this area is that its non-progressive. Its like the people would rather sit in a dirty diaper and complain about the stink instead cleaning it up and starting anew... and when something new is created, the slobs have to louse it up (check out the new Parmatown transit station... it took over 2 years to build and its the size of those 70's drive-thru Photomats, and guess what? It took 2 days after completion to smell like urine!) Also, I've heard complaints about the "Christmas Story" museum/house that opened last year... the whole 'someone's just trying to make a buck off of us Clevelanders....' wah! wah wahhh!! Oh boo-hoo! This town is lucky that a developer would even give this place a chance!

Also, why is anyone surprised when the sports teams lose? Does that give the citizens free reign to commit anarchy 'just because'? Whenever a local team loses, watch the news and take note of the crime activity!

Wow talk about East coast elitism. Anyways it seems more people from NYC like it here than in NYC since there is a greater number of people moving here (Cleveland) than there (NYC). Also are you aware your oh so progressive state is one of the few US states thats actually losing population? Guess its not so great in NY, after all you're here.

I agree areas of the city look bad, but don't forget Brooklyn and the Bronx looked FAR AND AWAY MORE WORSE in the 70's. The city rebuilt and is MUCH better now. Cleveland is where NYC was then. Remember we got hit hardest with the recession in 2000 and still haven't recovered. But there is lots of development on the way, believe that.

You know I don't even know why I let people dogging Cleveland get to me any more. They've been doing it for 35 years. Its so easy to put a place down, but so much harder to bring it back up. Complainers, What are you doing to revitalize the city and help in its renaissance? Probably not a damn thing, but leaving to "greener" pastures and complaining about crap you're not willing to help change.

But again why do i get angry? People on this site dog their hometowns no matter where they live. In NYC its the cost of living, and immigrants. In Atlanta its the traffic, heat, and humidity. In Miami its the crime. In LA its the illegals taking over. And in Cleveland its aparently everything, have the complainers tell it. Do something about the problem or get over it people!!!

You're too funny! Deep breath! Just breathe! What one person hates another person loves. I was just in NYC last year. When was the last time he was there? It was a dump! The airport looks like a train station, driving on the highway is SCARY! I was getting sad just looking on the streets as we drove by because of how bad it is! There is no way that you can compare traffic in Cleveland to traffic in NY! People in NY drive on the side of the highway just to get around a car in front of them! You should have seen me in the cab, my cab driver did that! If you're not happy in Cleveland, pack your things and leave!

True, as well as everyone thinks the South, is oh so safe and wonderful?

B/S I think Charlotte NC is as bad as Cleveland if not worse. Matter of fact we are burying the 2nd of the 2 officers killed this past Saturday night in Charlotte. Over 80 different types of gangs identified by police and FBI in this "bible belt" city. Charleston SC is just as bad.

However, I will concur Akron is WAY safer than Cleveland. But it's also WAY smaller.

Yo if you like New York so much than why don't you just move back there. And if you can't afford it there than just stop complaining about it in Cleveland cause its way more affordable. And if New York is so much better than Cleveland than why are rappers in New York City always sayin its the worst ghetto in America. And I don't even know what your talking about that Cleveland has a bad Transit system, its got one of the best Ive ever seen, and Ive been in Denver and Chicago before its better than those.Yeah and you don't drive like most New Yorkers so you can't really judge drivers when you don't even know how to drive.Yo and how do you know people in Cleveland arent important it doesnt sound like you know anyone In Cleveland.Namsayin New York is way more populated than Cleveland so it ain't gonna be the same as New York.I have never been too new york city so i ain't gonna diss it but if you don't like in C-town you ain't even gotta stay.

That is not all true. Look at New York. New York has more blacks than any other major city in the USA(2,000,000+) and New York has one of the lowest crime rates among major cities in the USA.

cleveland is not safe, very lazy when it comes to taking care of problems, the turn you head the other way concept, many crackheads not enough cops to put them in the slammer.

^^When you come up with the bill to higher more cops and donate that to the city maybe you could then make comments like that. Crime is bad and has recently gotten worse in the city, but the current mayor is hiring back the cops Campbell laid off. In fact the city's first Police Academy in years is either in the academy right now or have graduated already. People familiar with me on this board know I hate when people make comments, then don't have any evidence to support the claim. You may feel Cleveland is lazy in handling crime, but is that really what's going on?

Also julzfin said westpark sucks but never gave a reason why. It doesnt suck at all, it is just not as rich as it used to be. Going through a rough time but crime is not bad and the neighborhood is great!

Too many people in denial of problems; very discouraging. Likely, Cleveland will get worse.
