I think the most we had least year in 1 day was 3 or 4.
Your probably thinking of the 4th of July in 2007 when we had 7 murders in one day and 19 other unrelated shootings. That was a pretty bad day. Heres a article about those: Cleveland's deadliest days in recent history - Metro - cleveland.com
I believe the total number of homicides is around 26 so far. If we stay at the same rate, well have about 142 homicides by the end of the year. This would put us ahead of the 2007 total of 135. Last year we had 102. My prediction is around 125 now. It could change.

Because in some regards it is worse than murder, it forces the victim to endure a lifetime of trauma, emotional pain, suffering, etc. I don't believe that anybody has the right to doom somebody else to a lifetime of trauma and pain like that.
Also, because scripture says so.
When rape used to be a capital offense, either by state law (in mostly Southern states) or by social convention (via community lynching), it never occurred at the instance it is occurring today.

In regards to emotional pain, that shouldn't warrant someone's execution. Remember, rape is scary, offensive and a loss. Well, so is losing your home and job, when the bubble pops, but that doesn't mean someone should be executed, because, you know, you hurt and will always be reminded of that hurt everytime you see someone happily going to work in the morning, from their cozy little house.
Where do you think The Bible says rape is a capital crime?

In many countries now a day, rape is still greeted with a death penalty.
Bible promotes forgiveness, not death penalty.

WRONG!
It says if thy brother trespasses against you, rebuke him, and IF he repents, forgive him.
Part of repenting is actually meaning it and actually stopping the offending behavior, as well as making the situation right again. If you cause an accident that kills my cow you make it right by replacing the cow, that shows you are sorry. If you rape a woman how can you ever unrape her? Unless she deems fit to pardon you, your life should be forfeit, period. Not to mention most of the thugs that do that sort of stuff are repeat offenders, they are NOT sorry, they never will be, they will take advantage of your generosity to victimize people again and again.

Studies show that black and white crime rates are the exact same when you adjust for class/income standing. I've just read dozens of studies for a class in social stratification that I'm taking - and they're fairly unanimous.

There are far more White people living below the poverty line, than Black people in America. However, there are far more Black people committing crime in America, than White people. So, that income argument, is erroneous. However, it appears to be, the most popular excuse for crime in America today: you did it, because you lived on less than ten thousand, four hundred dollars per year, in one of the 48 contiguous states in 2008
