Socioeconomic problems. Once whites and blacks of the same socioeconomic status can reach across the divide, there will be no progress.
It's ignorant people like you who don't understand this. Go to college and you might better yourself for a debate. There is a reason why predominately white countries in Eastern Europe are more dangerous than the US. There is a reason why the Philippines have a 4x higher homicide rate.. it's obviously not a race factor in those countries, but a socioeconomic factor.
The problem with people like you this is; you may see a black person commit a crime, and remember it and preach about how bad blacks are... but at the same time you will dismiss anything good a black person does due to it being 'good luck' or some other crap. The hypocrisy of racists in America is hilarious and utterly disappointing - making us look horrible.

It just goes to show you how intelligent these criminals are. 
There are still a few good souls fighting the good fight in Cleveland's 'hood. I know an old man who's been living in the same house for forty years. It's been a ghetto for years, but he refuses to move out. I heard he's been ratting out all the drug dealers in the neighborhood for a while now.  If we could just get enough people with the courage to go back in and take back these neighborhoods. "Wesohood" is right, it isn't about race. We just have to scare these scumbags away. |

Well, you (and you aren't unique) argue that crime is primarily caused by Poverty. My point was, that does not appear to be the case. Hence, I am not surprised that while "war" was being declared on poverty (1964 by President Johnson), the crime rate was skyrocketing. Of course, it is a matter of degrees. Poverty does correlate with higher crime. However, there are other factors which are much more prominent than wether a single person earns more than $10,830 Dollars per year or not (the current Federal Poverty Guideline). It should be fairly obvious that earning that much money per year, in a country with our abundant social services for those anywhere near the poverty guidelines and the ease of cheating the system (i.e. working under the table) is not to blame for "crimes of desperation." On the other hand, it should be obvious that releasing murderers from prison, for example, after 5 or 10 years, instead of executing them, could lead to a dramatic increase in murder. Furthermore, pretending that a huge segment of the population is not dramatically more prone to crime than most others, when they clearly are, would likely lead to a failure to police effectively. Hence, leading to a higher crime rate. Moreover, encouraging the segment of the population with the greatest propensity towards crime, to primarily Identify themselves as members of an Oppressed Class, who are surrounded by their Oppressors, would, not surprisingly, lead to a tremendous surge in violent crime directed at the folks Identified as, "The Oppressor Class."
