You can install plastic film over the car windows (the windshield comes with it from the factory). Hurricane film works best, but you have to install it yourself. Next best is stuff they sell and install at auto detail places. If someone tries to break her car window, it should hold together longer. So, she can get away.
You can put a heavy duty tire sealant in the tires. That way she's much less likely to get stranded. You may feel a little vibration on the freeway, but it's worth it.
Point is, you never want to break down, but if you do, you should be prepared to handle it yourself (ie, carry the rechargeable batteries that will jump start your car, always have at least 1/2 tank of gas, know how to change a tire quickly). Secondly, always be prepared for a criminal attack, then, it isn't so scary.

It's also not so scary if you don't obsess over and hysterically exaggerate the threat. I bike at night in neighborhoods statistically as dangerous as, or more dangerous than, Buckeye and Woodland Hills and I've never had a problem.

I'm just curious why we feel the need to post every single murder that happens in Cleveland? I checked 8 other city forums (LA, Chicago, DC and others) and no other city forum is doing something like this.
Is it any wonder people don't want to move here? lol

Well, it started with another poster making a thread in early-mid 2007 when Cleveland was on pace to have the most murders since 1994. I believe at that time it was on pace to have around 150 for the year, it ended up with 135 which was the most since 1994. A thread was made because of that.
After that it turned into people reporting every murder to see the actual number and if it really did get that bad and that high, because it is a topic very much about Cleveland.
After that me and another posted made threads for 2008 to see the actual number of murders compared to the year before and if it would be that bad or even worse. It evolved into this year so we just report any crimes that we feel need to be reported and the same concept of the other years. There's a lot of people posting in here now. Another important reason is that the FBI or Cleveland PD doesn't report the murders accurately or as they should so people feel they need to be informed. That's basically how it started with people reporting every murder. I also had many requests to make another thread like this. There's at least 1 other forum that keeps count of all the murders in Cleveland and many other cities as well.

Interesting observation, I've been kind of wondering about that myself.
As an outsider (born and raised in Philly, living in Sacramento) I really liked living in Cleveland. Having lived in Philly, Kansas City, Cleveland, Columbus and Washington DC, I would clearly have chosen metro Cleveland to live. I find the folks do tend to be a bit down on their own city, and my perspective is that it has mostly to do with the local politics. It is really a shame, the city and surrounding area are really nice, and have so much potential.
However, if folks want to highlight the crime taking place in a discussion thread, that is certainly their prerogative.

I haven't read the thread, Airics. I just see this one continually bumped and I was just wondering why no other city forum has a similar thread.

It's rude to comment in threads you don't read.
