Default Cleveland Crime: 2009

This thread is the 2009 version of "2008 Cleveland Homicides".
Im hoping that we can do the same kind of thing that was successful with the homicides for the past 2 years. This thread is especially for homicides, but I didnt want the name to limit it from posting and keeping tracks of other crimes that may happen in the city. Its specifically for crimes in Cleveland, but your welcome to post crimes for other cities/towns in NE Ohio (and other areas) also.

We ended the 2008 year with 102 homicides, down from 135 in 2007. An improvement in numbers, but each 1 of those numbers were a person that lost their life and now their family and friends have to suffer. So even 1 murder is bad. I want to say Rest in Peace to all of them. I do care for each of these people that lose their life.

This new year has already started out with another homicide in Cleveland: Cleveland's first homicide of 2009 happened just after midnight - Metro - cleveland.com

It happened at 12:50 AM, just 50 minutes after the start of the New Year. So the current homicide count for 2009 is 1. RIP.

Yeah definetly a bad start for 2009 in Cleveland. Not to take away from the pain and sadness of people who lose a family member anytime of the year, but to have it happen 50 minutes after the new year starts. Rest in Peace to both them, and God bless the families who will have to live without their loved ones.

It is pretty bad.

And actually its even worse than that. The guy shot and died shortly thereafter at about 12:30 AM. So only about 30 mins into the new year a person was already killed in Cleveland.

Another one in Cleveland as watertiger mentioned. I found the link: Cleveland man gunned down outside East Side club - Metro - cleveland.com

RIP. Thats at least 3 now. I also have to mention that there have been at least 6 other people shot already, but I dont know if any of them died. A few of them were in critical condition.
Man shot last night on East 89th Street - Metro - cleveland.com
No arrest in double shooting on East 92nd Street - Metro - cleveland.com
Neighborhood feud ends with four people shot - Metro - cleveland.com

Not a good start to the year at all. Theres been a murder and several others shot every day so far.
