OK NC isn't height of fashion...
I didn't mean that NC is the fashion capitol-- maybe the people just look good there because many have more of a tan , but I guess I'm referring to the fact that there probably isn't a city less fashionable than Cleveland. It just isn't a priority here and I do think fashion/culture/arts are indicative of a civilized society. Have you ever been to the ballet or a musical here? Audience members wear sweatpants! In NY and Chicago, people do dress for special occasions such as a performance; it enhances the experience actually to look around at all the wonderful fashion and becomes a part of the experience itself. Being amongst an audience of guests wearing leggings with theme sweaters, mom jeans, and sweat shirts really is a downer. That being said, Cleveland has the most wonderful arts! Art Museum, Cleveland Institute of Art, Botanic Garden, Playhouse, & Severence Hall are among the finest in the country. Why can't people just respect these places more by looking as if they have some self-respect themselves? Sorry I'm totally off-topic.

Are the people friendly in NC? When I moved here from the east coast two years ago, I found the people to not be friendly at all!!! It took my neighbors 2 years to want to get to know me, but now I could care less. Also, if you have any sort of a drive from your apartment to your job, you should be aware that Ohioans are TERRIBLE drivers! They constantly tailgate and don't know the meaning of a turn signal! This I feel you should know! When it rains, even if it's a drizzle, they crawl on the highways and if it snows, they fly! Go figure! I also think they take an awful lot of money out of one's paycheck. Even when I lived in New York and New Jersey, and making less money than here, I had much more fluid money at my disposal -- they just didn't take out as much!
Just be careful -- if you need a job, I'd go for it, but if you could land a job here for $80,000, then you must be above average -- I'd hold out for a job in NC. Just my opinion.

This is obviously very subjective, because I think we get more like 6 months of good weather a year. May-Sept are almost always beautiful, and we usually get a parly nice April and October.

There is a cloud cover which envelops the city (I read we only have 65 sunny days/year!)
|
Here's an interesting document:
http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/oa/climate/...ccd/clpcdy.txt
Cleveland has 66 clear days, and 202 cloudy days. The rest are partly cloudy.
NC gets about 50 fewer cloudy days a year.

Tan? To me, people with tans don't look better, they look like potential skin cancer victims. If you want fashion, go to NYC.
The dress problem at cultural events doesn't just include Cleveland; I've been to the threatre, etc all over the country and have run in to people wearing jeans and other inappropriate clothing. Some just weren't taught properly, and others just don't care.

Oh sorry. I said we have 65 sunny days, and you say we have 66 sunny ("clear") days. P.S. Cleveland weather is a lot different from Youngstown!

You're right, the lake has an influence on Cleveland's weather, so you guys get cooler temps longer in the spring. I forgot about that.
As far as the sunny day thing goes, you seemed to imply that the sun only came out 65 days a year, and that the other 300 days of the year were gloomy--when this is very much not true. I don't know what the exact definition of "CL" "PC" and "CD" is. How many clouds are necessary to make a "clear" day "partly cloudy," and how much sunshine is needed to make a "cloudy" day "partly cloudy?" But I'm sure there is plenty of sunshine on most partly cloudy days.

I'm glad that with 7.2% unemployment rate, someone's still worried about clothes.
I moved out of Cleveland for cultural reasons, but if I had a job offer at $80,000 a year, I think the practical solution would be to take it. These are not times where geographic location can cater to our every whim. You need to consider the future and well-being of your family.

I tend to agree with you, I have to make a decision in the coming week.
