I totally get you on this.
I moved to NC 5 years ago, and have missed Ohio since DAY ONE.....then I moved to SC 2 years ago, like it better than NC, but still miss Ohio....I am retiring soon, but as much as I miss Ohio, I will never move back to that weather...I just can't do it anymore.
Too many aches and pains, can't take winter and the cloudiness all the time....but still yeah, I understand why someone would move back...and actually? I'm moving to Florida. Ohio is a real unique place especially NE Ohio, and there are so many things I miss about it.
People are always in different stages of their lives. Not everyone can take heat, not everyone can take cold, some people need higher paying jobs, some people don't need to work. Each state can offer people what they need.

Mrs. P, you are so right. It's funny how everyone knocks each other for their likes and dislikes, but in the end if one place was for everyone, then there wouldn't be a world or the US for that matter. Everyone has unique reasons that are very real to them for wanting to live somewhere or another. Some people then find it's not what they thought, and can be humble enough to pass along the info. What bothers me are the people who just have such narrow-minded visions and can only see their story. They can only appreciate what they know of a place, and not the countless other people who may view an area differently.
We actually live in FL, and have for 7 years (myself, my husband has been here for 14) FL was a great place for us for a long time, and now we are parents. FL is not the best place to raise children, but is fabulous for certain singles, retirees, and couples with no or grown children. I can't knock the areas as a whole, just that they don't work for me any longer. The transient nature is tough with kids, but is great when you are the transient one and needing to meet new people. The heat isn't for me, but my husband loves it. We both love the beach, boating, fishing and the outdoor activities, but when you are 30 somethings, working all the time, then home with the very small children, you can't just go out and do what you once did, and the bloom soon dies.
We are moving back to OH for all the great things it has for young families, and coming back to FL on vacation where we have no distractions, and can enjoy the wonderful things this state offers. All one really has to do is open their eyes to see that no place is all good or all bad...just not for everyone.
Great post Mrs. P.

I so agree with Ms.P. I am living in So. Cal. It is beautiful here, has a lot to offer for a lot of people. Just not the right fit for me. It will never be home. And I really want to be home.

Lived here my whole life... Absolutely hate this place. I mean with a passion. In fact as I said in another thread all I would miss is going to Browns and Cavs games. And that's true. The only thing tying me to this place is that my wife's part of a tight knit family and refuses to leave because they are here. If I ever convince her, then we're out of here the next morning.

Cleveland is on my list of places to relocate in two years. I don't mind the cold winters; what I am mostly concerned about is the job situation. Is it very bad there?

what type of job will you be looking for ? if you want a job in the steel factories or auto factories , you are fifty years too late. but, if you are in the medical, bio-medical,nano-tech.,wind/solar fields, the future is bright. cleveland is slowly transforming and re-tooling itself.

Sorry I should have more specific. I have worked for many years in the insurance industry. I was a group health insurance claims examiner. Also I have drafted policies and done data entry for them. My experience is pretty much admin and clerical.

Cleveland has a very high concentration of insurance companies. You should be fine. Progressive's corp headquarters is there in Mayfield Heights as well.

Thank you. That is encouraging. Right now I will be visiting different cities on my list of places to which I want to move. Cleveland will be next year and I am looking forward to it.
