Default Rural acreage in Stark or Medina County

On a previous thread (Costs' for rural land_Wooster/Orrville area?) I was told that it's very unlikely to be able to buy rural acreage (20-30 acres) for $1000./acre in Wayne County. How about just over the border in Stark or Medina County? My wife & I feel really good about this area!

Dream on. Medina and Stark Co. are much higher than Wayne Co.

If you want cheap land, you'll need to:

1) avoid counties with interstate access as property values tend to be higher.
2) avoid counties within 50 miles of large Ohio cities.
3) avoid high quality agricultural land, especially in and around Amish areas

In other words, if you are looking for land in Ohio, head to the SE part of the state.

Thanks to both of you, I hear you loud & clear. The "quality" of the land (farming) is not what I'm looking for but the location is. From the little I've read so far surfing the Web (dial-up) it seems that Wayne County may be in a conundrum. They are aggressively trying to attract business to the county & at the same time keep the “Amish” appeal.

Without getting too off topic I feel the relationship between local & business activity is going to get interesting in the coming years. In the meantime, I’m going to keep my dream alive. If the locals need some help keeping the land from “big business”, I would like to help.

As for my motives, I like the area a lot & feel that buying some rural acreage is a way of "protecting" cash.
