Default Best Sections of Cleveland Heights

Can anyone chime in on the best sections of Cleveland Heights? I know it's one area that has both sketchy and not-so-sketchy. Can anyone give me cross streets surrounding the safest best section?
Looking at general safety (I don't need to hear how unsafe Cleveland is, as I grew up in the area and know.)
Looking at proximity to restaurants, churches, and other necessities

Thanks for any input.

This is a hard request because the "best safest" section would cost you 500k-1million (Fairmount/North Park), so can you clarify whether you're looking to rent or buy, and what price range you're looking in?

I would be looking to buy. Correct, I didn't phrase it correctly. Maybe I should have said what are the bordering streets that I shoudl not cross over into if looking to buy in Cleveland Heights. You are right, the "best" section of anywhere will cost an arm and a leg. I should have said "tell me the areas to stay out of!

Not so much bordering Severance Hall. Little Italy is between CL H & Severance Hall. The border of East Cleveland is north of Monticello.
I think your best bet in Cleveland Heights (generally) is south of Cedar, west of Lee. There are other areas that are nice, and pockets here that are not so great. It is safe to say, I think, steer clear of areas that have a high ratio of rentals.

Another nice area would be near Canterbury Elementary School. This the southeast part of the city that borders University Heights and Shaker Heights. Streets include Princeton, Kingston, Queenston, Canterbury off of Fairmount Boulevard. The other side of Taylor near Fairmount also is a nice little area, but the name of the streets there escape me.

This area isn't terribly expensive and it's close to Beaumont, Ruffing Montessori, the CH-UH library and not too far up Lee is the Cedar-Lee retail district.

Thanks so much. My hubs and I really want to be back in Shaker, but given the market we are doing ourselves a disservice by not checking out the other neighboring areas. Much appreciated!!

I forgot what you said about whether you had children and where you planned on educating them (public or private). Anyways, if you're planning on using the public school system of wherever you live, I'd be cautious about Cleveland Heights (or University Heights). The schools themselves (and the teachers/administrators that run them) aren't that bad, but the demographics have shifted and are continuing to shift and it's making things difficult for the district. If I had young kids I think the only elementary school in Cleveland Heights I'd feel alright sending them to would be Roxboro. Maybe Fairfax or Canterbury, too. But none of the others. I say this sadly, as I'm someone who attended the CH-UH public schools for the early part of my life (about 15-20 years ago). I just think things have changed quite a bit.

But as I mentioned on the Shaker thread, and the same applies for CH, you'll be right smack dab in the middle of many of the best private schools in the Cleveland area.
