Default Single woman with specific safety question re. Cleveland State Univ neighbourhood

Hello! I'm moving to Cleveland and just looked at a great apartment across from Cleveland State University on Euclid Ave. However I really need an honest appreciation of the safety of this area. I will be by myself most of the time and often could be coming back from work quite quite late. I like the location of being near downtown but safety must come first. Would I be better off moving to Mentor?

Hi! If it were me I wouldn't be comfortable walking down Euclid by myself at night. I wouldn't move so far as Mentor though. There are new apartments and condos called Stone Bridge, they have garages and security systems that are downtown, but not really by CSU. Will you be walking at night or driving? If it is right across the street from CSU that wouldnt be so bad, but right down the street can be scary.

I read your other posts, are you going to be attending CSU? During the day you will be fine there is a lot going on and there will be students everywhere. There are night classes there so there might be some people walking around at night. Personally I wouldnt do it living by myself.

I don't know how much you can afford, but Embassy suits does long term leasing .It's right there by CSU.You should be fine during the day, but at night, streets are pretty empty.

The only hotels in the imediate area are the two 4/5 star Intercontinental hotels. The next closest would be in downtown and are the Hilton garden Inn, Radisson, Ritz, marriot, Hyatt Regency, Embassy suites, Holdiay inn. Being in downtown they are about 4-5 miles away from the Case/UH area.

Downtown hotels are going to be very expensive! But you know what, now that I think about it, there arent very many hotels on the east side.
