Smile From Chicago to Cleveland (via Alabama)

I am moving to Cleveland mext month. I'll only be there for a short time (6-12 months) and want to experience what the city has to offer.

I am currently living in Alabama, but before I lived in Chicago, which I absolutely loved.

I am single a single 30 year old female and will be working downtown near the lakefront. I would like to live area with a "neighborhood feel" to it. I would like to be able to walk to resturants, stores, cafes, & bars. Basically, I would like to use my car as little as possible. I want to live somewhere young, but not somewhere that is completely overrun with college frat boys or hipsters.

For those of you who are familiar with Chicago, I lived in River North. I enjoyed it there, but after a while got tired of how touristy (and non-neighborhoody) it was. Lincoln Park was too much of a scene, full of what they call Chads & Trixies. I liked Lakeview, which seemed a little more diverse, laid back, and relatively safe.

Am I being picky enough?

I've read many of these posts and done some research. I'm currently thinking of looking in Lakeview, Cleveland Heights, Tremont, Ohio City, & the Warehouse District.

What are your opinions as to which of these would fufill my needs. Any other suggestions?

Finally, what is public transportation like in Cleveland? Is it quick, convenient, and easy to use? How late does it run? Is it safe to use at night?

Thanks in advance for all of your help!

Leftyloo, I sent you a private message, here is the diagram for the transit system in Cuyahoga county. There are also connections to some of the transit systems in surrounding counties. The bus system is pretty good, and the rail service is good to, but limited. The bus system is 24 hours, the rail system runs all times except between 1am and 4am. Welcome to Cleveland!
