Yes, you'll have to get used to just a little more snow. But the streets departments are so much more competent. But ... schools and businesses don't close when there's "only" 6 inches of snow on the ground, and being afraid of driving in the snow is not a valid reason for missing work.

What else is different (I've lived in both places)? A slightly faster pace, self-deprecating sense of civic humor, ethnic neighborhoods. The east vs. west side mentality is there -- that and the bizarre workings of the city council just might make you feel right at home, LOL.

You'll also have to get used to living along beautiful Lake Erie. That's what I missed most when I moved from Cleveland area to Cincinnati. The first summer I lived in Cincinnati I thought I was going to die of heat prostration! You might enjoy the breezy summer days on the beach. Which is much nicer than The Beach.

A funny tidbit I noticed when living in Cincy and even talking to residents is that they have the same East versus west mentality there, except the Cuyahoga is replaced by Vine Street. The east side is the more upcale and west is considered less upscale like in Cleveland.

I didn't read all the posts but depending on where you plan to work, I would check out the West side suburbs, Westlake is a beautiful city but is more expensive. The travel time is not a big deal from most places but as for school systems I understand the East side suburbs have the best school systems.

Living in both, I've noticed that there is a more southern feel to Cincinnati, including religious choices and accents, whereas Cleveland seems to combine a northeast and midwest accent and mentality. The distance across the state is almost like crossing the Mason-Dixon line.

Cleveland feels like a larger city, although it seems to have more areas of struggling economy. More ethnicity, more diversity.

Cleveland is much much more of a "big city" type feel than Cincinnati. Im in Columbus and if I had to choose between Cincinnati and Cleveland (not thinking about weather ), I would choose Cleveland in a minute. But, the weather SUCKS in Cleveland

I would say that the Cleveland metro feels much larger. Cincinnati was Ohio's first big city, a lot of growth happened in the 19th century (late). Then Cleveland was Ohio's 20th century growth city. Then Columbus was the late 20th century growth, and now Ohio's 21st century city.

Now to compare cinci and cleveland: Since Cincinnati city limits are so older, they have a lot of problems that cities from that age range include. A large African-American population moved to Cincinnati from the south, then the economy fell into dispar, WWII, and etc.. SO still today Cinci has a large poor Black population. Cleveland does too, but in Cinci it has led to more present day racial tensions.

Cleveland is a different cultural climate. Columbus and Cleveland have a more similar political and cultural climate, while Cincinnati is the start of the south, and has a southern culture present.

Cleveland's economy is performing horrible compared to Cincinnati. Cincinnati has a lot of growth in their suburbs helping the regional economy. Cleveland's downtown seems to be a little further along when it comes to big city elements though.

You have a lot of options to on where to live. You don't have to live in the actual city. You could live in one of Cleveland's many suburbs. Here is a list Euclid,Solon,Westlake,Shaker Heights,Cleveland Heights,Lakewood,Parma,Strongsville,Richmond Hts,South Eucild,Brooklyn,Brook Park,Thats just a few.You could live in western Lake county,Northern Summit County,or Eastern Lorain County and still be fairly close to Cleveland. In Cleveland we have alot of attractions. We have 3 pro sports teams,The Cavs,The Indians, and the Browns. We have the Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame.We have many mueseums alot of them being located in University Circle, which is around Euclid Avenue.Euclid Avenue is one of the major streets in Cleveland. We have some of the best hospitals in the World.Cedar Point is an hour away which when you consider the fact that it is one of the best Amusement Parks in the States that is not that long of a drive. That does depend on if you like rollar coasters through.Cleveland has many public beaches. We have a great skyline.Great architecture.Alot of places to shop at.Very diverse.Very Urban environment even in the suburbs.People here are friendly. So really if you can get past the bad weather Than I think that Cleveland is a world class city.

I agree with the posters supporting the move to Cleveland. Although it is colder than Cinci, the snow difference depends upon where you live. If you go to the west side of the city, the snow isn't that much more than what you get in Cinci.

I like Westlake, Rocky River, Bay Village, Strongsville, North Royalton and North Olmstead if you are looking for a nice lifestyle, convenience, and limited snow. Although the weather is colder in the spring, the fall timeframe is nicer in Cleveland than Cinci. And nothing in Cinci matches the lake...

You got that right! The first summer I lived in Cincinnati, I drove up to Cleveland at least every other weekend so I could be near the water. The most beautiful sunsets in the world are on Lake Erie.
