Depending on the timing of the trip, if you are in Cleveland during the day, I would stop at West Side Market. It's off I90 and has a very wide selection of food vendors among other things.

But I think you should DEFINITELY try out:

Siam's on St. Clair. It's not Eastern European, but it's some amazing Thai food.

Little Budapest is nice as well, but not very scenic.. good Hungarian food. Balaton is also pretty good. It's named after the Lake Balaton, which is a great vacation spot!

Surprisingly, Cleveland has a TON of great ethnic eateries. Oooh and I'd suggest trying out some Middle Eastern / Puerto Rican eateries as well since they have a LARGE presence on the west side of Cleveland. But I doubt you'll have time for all that

you mentioned eastern european food... as you come into cleveland on i-90 exit E.55th. two of the best places are 5 min. apart... take E.55th south to st.clair ave(turn rt) go ten blocks to E.45th and st.clair (maries on left side). best schnitzel and cheese strudel bar none ! also before that at E.55th and st. clair ave. (left side as you cross st.clair) is frank sterles slovenian country house. both are 5 min. or less from I-90 and are real ethnic food joints ! then take the ride into downtown , ohio city, lakefront, etc...

Wow... I think I'm absolutely going to have to spend at least one night in town. A LOT of excellent suggestions, thank you all. I'm really looking forward to visiting Cleveland.
