Cleveland ranked #5 for college grads??
Has anyone seen that CNN listed Cleveland as the #5 in the top ten cities for college grads??
Looks like they got stats from two sources:
CBcampus.com and apartments.com
I wonder how these sites compiled their stats for this ranking?
I wonder if they mean city proper or the metro.
Interesting

Yeah, that is surprising. In fact I think numbers 2-5 are all surprises.

Awesome! I saw a similar link on here somewhere else on this forum. Cleveland's doing a good job of diversifying it's economy(at least compared to the "good ol' days"). The city realized it can't depend on blue collar work forever. Personally, after college I'm staying put. From what I've seen engineering jobs are pretty plentiful around Cleveland!

It looks like the list took into heavy consideration the cost of living combined with the job opportunities. I think the cost of living propelled many cities onto the list that aren't usually seen on these lists. Nevertheless, Cleveland is doing a lot better and I think we will find ourselves on more positive lists in the future.

Correct.
The list was made based off entry-level positions open, cost of living, and jobs available for people with college degrees.

That's part of the issue. Most of the Forbes rankings make Cleveland and Ohio in general out to be some barren wasteland. Even our own residents believe it's that bad.
The more I research, the more I begin to understand the real issue with Cleveland. It's not that we don't have enough jobs. Rather, it's partly due to the type of people still in Cleveland. Most people here are looking for blue collar work, which is leaving almost everywhere. At the same time people with degrees are leaving for a few reasons(weather being a biggie). But I think a big part is due to the perception of Cleveland you see in major rankings. Kids graduating think that those big jobs just aren't in Cleveland.
I say screw it. If I get good offers from companies in c-town when I graduate, then I'm staying here. From what I've seen lately with the past couple classes at my university, that won't be much of an issue.

I think most of these lists are bogus anyways, partially because they all seem to contradict each other.
But I do agree with the above sentiment: Cleveland scored high on this list mostly because the cost of living here is decent.

Downside of life?

I have duo associates in Business Administration and Management, and I still focus on my school. Next year I will get my dual bachelors in Health Information management and Health Administration. I have a lot of experiences in life. that is more than years I'm looking for jobs and I can't find nothing for me. I apply at UH, Clinic etc no one call me; the only think they have to say I do not have enough experience. this is ridiculous if you do not give my chance where I'm going to get it. I am not agreeing with you. that's more than year I was trying to move in Cleveland cause of jobs I turn my thirsty off. I want to tell you guys I love Cleveland. By the way, if you guys know someone who is looking for a good worker do not hesitate to call me at this number 724-713-2380. Thank you or email me at jorel.coffy@utoledo.edu
