Ok ok OK! I don't wanta move to NC, so the og opinion is appreciated, but not relevant to my inquiries.
Thanks for all the on the issue answers, much appreciated. We're coming from the area of "what's rain and why is there water falling from the sky?".....Arizona. But having lived in Denver for almost a quarter century(where we went thru a winter cycle of beautiful sun and high 50's days with snow moving in every Friday for about 9 weeks), we can adjust to the winter. Rain will be a newby, even Denver didn't truly get that much rain. Humidity will be another adjustment, wifes hair is "frizzy" as it is, even with our 3-6% humidity levels here.
One thing about this forum, for any state, you will find every attitude, opinion and detractor/promoter there is! People think we're absolutely nuts for desiring a move to Ohio, especially the Cleveland area....leave Arizona and the heat? You're nuts! But......when you've longed for years to experience seasons again, see greenery, old established neighborhoods and ethnic areas(dear God please let me live right down the street from Little Italy)....you just get tired of all this warm weather, sparse rain(if any)and red tile roof stucco boxes.
So if anybody out there is sick and tired of all the things we desire.......sell you a beautiful older double wide mobile on a small lot......it'll only cost you about 3 times what a nice similar sq.ft. house there does.....!

How are you going to post a list as "Most Rainy Days," that has a header that says "Large US cities where it rains or snows on over 120 days each year"? We're talking about rain, not snow. What's your source, anyways?

Bwahaha, that list is days, not inches. So if we get a light sprinkle, while the rest of the day is gorgeous, like yesterday, it goes on the list. Yeah, real accurate depiction.

I lived for a while out in Phoenix. Arizona's climate is almost unlike any other in the country. Not a bad thing necessarily, just very different. But having lived in Denver, it seems you'll be ready for some of the differences. No place is perfect, not even Arizona, so I wouldn't let other peoples' attitudes influence how you feel about a place. Some people just desire different climates/environments. Best of luck on your move, and if you have any more questions, keep them coming and we'll do our best to help!

Thanks! We came out last October(to Cleveland), had a blast and loved it all. We are well aware of the job market, but have funds to live for at least 12-18 months if need be.
Anybody here work at Cleveland Clinic? Job openings there fit the wifes background, even a couple I'm qualified for. Imagine they have a gigantic application load for each position. Benefits look terrific, what's the insurance cost for employee only? any ideas?

And you're right about Arizona, it's a acquired taste. Sometimes that comes from years of snow and cold, probably why those we know here that are from Ohio think we're nuts.

hubz1124 is on a distinguished road
I lived in Tucson for awhile and ended up moving back to Cleveland. The heat was a little much for my liking and the brown landscape and giant bugs got old. I love having all for seasons, but obviously thats personal preference.

Look out, here come more North Carolinans taking over the Ohio forum with how great their state is. You couldn't pay me to live in OVERRATED Charlotte anyday.

BTW, thank you for hijacking the Cleveland forum.

I actually do business in CLE, have family interests as well

a) It never rained two weeks straight here.
Mid April '09...oh maybe it was only 14 days.

b) It doesn't rain every weekend during the summer here. I lived it, around the year 2000 Summer, had a lake property, only got a couple weekends boating on lake that Summer. I believe I said it rained most weekends that Summer.

c) It's only a matter of time before another hurricane devastates a large chunk of your states. While you're waiting, enjoy the upcoming three months of constant muggy, humid weather with averages in the mid-90s. What, you say you've got air-conditioning? Good, stay indoors and start looking on the internet for your next job now that Wachovia is gone and Bank of America is next.
Been happily employed by same company for > 25 yrs. that allows me flexibility in where I live. Actually most my business is done up north but I decided you only live once and quality of life is important to me and prefer abundance of sunny days over clouds.

Don't overexaggerate there. Two weeks of rain? You are just trying to prove your point, but you throw out nonsense like that. NE Ohio has under 2 inches of rain then what it should for the month of May. I am in Cleveland on business for a month, and I just watched channel 5 news last night. Think I got you beat on the who knows what.
