famousjenny is on a distinguished road
All of these suggestions are really good.

I would also add to keep an eye on the Detroit Shoreway area, including Gordon Square. Tons of redevelopment going on. You just need to follow Detroit going east towards downtown. You can find the websites here: Detroit Shoreway and Gordon Square Arts District

You can find...
Room Service, DuoHome and other cool shops/galleries
Luxe with great food and drinks
The Happy Dog for live music, drinks and fantastic Sunday brunch
The Capital Theatre is opening in October to show indie and foreign films
Cleveland Public Theatre for live productions

Don't be afraid to venture out a little to all the near west side has to offer.

Stino's is on "Old Detroit Road," which is that dead-end street of old buildings behind the current Detroit Road. You know, the one that ends at the pink hotel. Stino's is tucked back there.

old detroit road rocky river - Google Maps - click STREET VIEW when the page loads and follow the direction of the pink building.

that's actually my favorite part of the city. a cool area with nice architecture -- and of course the river front properties are nice as well.
