Default waterfront vacation within 4 hours of Cleveland?

Help! I live in Columbus and am trying to plan a 3 day get away within a 5ish hour drive from Columbus. Where would you suggest within 4 hours of Cleveland or 5ish from Columbus that we could rent a quiet, water front luxury (doesn't have to be toooo great, but not rustic) condo for a few days? We are just looking for a nice place to hang and listen to the water...thanks

Lake Chatauqua (sp?) just over the New York state line, but that may put you at about the 6-hour-drive range from columbus.

Hinckley Lake. It is part of the Cleveland Metroparks - Google Search

A) For a traditional family day-at-the-beach, with swimming and sand play:
1) Headlands
2) Huntington

B) For a small, scenic park with picnics and playgrounds, and nice views of the lake:
1) Rocky River park (also small beach for wading and play)
2) Bay Village's Colombia Rd park with waterfall and small beach
3) Lakewood Park

C) For hiking, walking, and relaxing near a river:
1) Rocky River Reservation (especially the marina area and just south)
2) Cuyahoga Valley National Park (esp Brandywine Falls)

For a creek swim, the village of Rock Creek, Ohio, on Ohio Route 45, 32 miles NOrth of Warren and 8 miles South of exit 223 off of I-90, has a park with two small waterfalls that are a heavenly swimming hole. The water is clean and clear, feels more refreshing than a shower at home. I swim here for hours on a hot summer day if I have the day off from work. There are huge crayfish and even fresh water lobsters in the creek, and you can pick up a net at the bait shop up the road to fish for them. The live under the rocks in the creek.

Beachwise Headlands Beach in Mentor is about as nice of a beach as you're going to get that's not on the ocean. True, it's not Florida, but it's a fantastic substitute to be so close.

It's a state park so there are no condos on the beach, but you can stay in a condo on Lake Erie for the atmosphere and then drive over to the beach.

I also hear there is a nice beach at one of the Lake Metroparks (similar vicinity, same deal).

^ There are nice beaches all along Lake Erie.. by no means does Mentor have the only one.

If you are looking for quiet, relaxed places.. I would not look into Cleveland beaches, look west towards Sandusky or Put n Bay.

Try Presque Isle State Park in Erie, PA. I am not sure of the accommodations in the area.

Plus it's close right in the middle of Ohio Wine Country which if you've never been, you should at least once.

Less then 3 hours from your front door.

Did the Park w/rides and winery close down in Geneva -on-the-Lake. I come up to Roaming Shores over the 4th and like to visit this place for grins but heard it was closing.
