Thinking of moving to cleveland burb have questions
have lived in lorain/elyria area most of my life.... Me, my fiance, and our son moved a year ago to a small city in ohio by the PA line its nice i moved because of work but now im ready to move back up that way. She is going to school for Healthcare Admin and will be done in 18months she really wants to move to north carolina because of the raliegh area and how many hospitals they have ..... ive been really trying to talk her out of it but our main concern is for our family i work for a big retailer and could work in any decent size city but for her to find a job is rough in this economy.... My last ditch effort is to get her to move to Cleveland burb there is the cleveland clinic and i think there should be enough hospitals in the area for her to find a job.... we are thinking of Parma, middleburg, strongsville would like some feedback on hospitals, schools, and crime.... i cant leave my brown and my state haha hopefully we get settled this year in CLEVELAND!

Middleburg Heights and Strongsville are wealthier suburbs and tend to have better amenities for their communities. For example, shopping, eating, and recreation centers, and parks. These suburbs are long commutes to the Cleveland Clinic and University Hospital. Most health care workers at those hospitals live in Beachwood, Shaker Heights, Euclid, Lyndhurst, Cleveland Heights, and University Heights.

Another often overlooked city on this board is Berea. Centrally located, good schools, has a small college town feel because of Baldwin Wallace.
Honestly you really can't go wrong in about 90% of the suburbs in Cleveland. The ones you mentioned all rank well with what you are looking for.
And for the medical field, there are very few places that outrank Cleveland in that regard. Very few.
Not only the Cleveland Clinic which gets all the press, but University Hospitals which includes Rainbow Babies and Childrens hospital. There are also still a ew excellent independent hospitals in the area including St Vincent Charity and Parma Community General.
I would probably rent for a few months if I were you because the hospitals are so spread out. Personally I hate a long commute. Living in Bay Village and commuting to the Clinic Main Hospital on the east side would not be a lot of fun... lol (People do it though!)

Hi V8aarons, here is some more information on safety, schools, and hospitals/medical facilities for the cities you mentioned. Hope this helps!
Parma, Ohio
This year Parma was ranked 68th in safety out of 78 cities by Cleveland Magazine, so safety could be better! The schools are just average, and were rated effective for the 2007/2008 school year, so there are better school districts out there. However, Parma is home to Parma General Hospital, and many local medical offices and buildings! Also the homes and taxes are very affordable, and there are lots of local shops and restaurants, including Parmatown Mall.
Middleburg Hts., Ohio
This year Middleburg Hts. was ranked 47th in safety out of 78 cities by Cleveland Magazine, so safety could be better, still safe though! Middleburg Hts. students attend Berea city schools. The Berea schools are just average, and were rated effective for 2007/2008, so there are better school districts out there! But, Middleburg Hts. is home to University Southwest General Hospital, and Rainbow Babies Children's Hospital, as well as many other local medical offices and buildings! Homes and taxes are affordable, and there are lots of shops and restaurants in the area, including Southland!
Strongsville, Ohio
This year Strongsville was ranked 12th in safety out of 78 cities by Cleveland Magazine, so safety is excellent, better then all surrounding cities! The schools are very good, rated excellent for 2007/2008. One of the only larger districts that has been rated excellent for seven years in a row! Strongsville has many medical centers including the Cleveland Clinic Strongsville, Kaiser Permanente, University Health Center/ Southwest General, Southwest Urgicare, Metro Health, and many local medical offices and buildings! Homes and taxes are affordable, and there are lots of local shops and restaurants, including Southpark Center Mall!

You could do alot worse if she is adamant on moving to Raleigh. It's a great area, fantastic climate, many top notch colleges (and hospitals) and progressive business community. We chose to move from CLE to NC in 2004 and it was best thing we ever did and just love the area. In my opinion we improved our quality of life and give our kids good opportunity to succeed in life with great in-state College options and job growth down here. I still own my Browns PSLs and make some games in CLE and some away games. DirecTV NFL pkg is good option too.

I would move, but go to Charlotte instead of Raleigh. You'll miss the culture, the real ethnic food, the architecture, the baseball (how often does that really impact your day to day life), and the cold but as far as quality of life you really can't beat Charlotte...in my opinion...
Since you are born and bread Cleveland I know its hard but there is a HUGE Ohio contingency down there that it won't be hard to fit in.

Strongsville is great! Wonderful schools, wonderful everything. I would actually recommend North Royalton and Broadview Hts/Brecksville even more highly. Property taxes, etc, in all three of those areas are very high, but I really think the area is worth it. I live in Strongsville currently and I lived in N. Royalton for 7 years. Parma and Middleburg Hts. are cheaper but if you have the money for somewhere nicer I wouldn't recommend either place all that highly.
