Possibly moving to Cleveland
Hi! Young couple with 1 baby possibly relocating to Cleveland for a job in Mayfield Heights. I'm looking for an area to live with top rated school districts, upscale, safe living conditions in the 300K - 400K range that is family friendly. Catholic family. What are the best suburbs with that description? Thanks.

Take a look at Chagrin Falls, Mayfield village and Gates Mills within the Mayfield school district, Chesterland in the West Geauga Local School District, Orange and Pepper Pike (both in the Orange school district I believe) and Beachwood. Those should get you started. Greatschools.net is a good resource to get a general idea of the school districts and the state of Ohio releases performance numbers yearly which can be found on the net. The Chagrin Falls school district is one of the best around.

I would stick to the eastern suburbs obviously due to your job location.
I'd recommend Shaker Hts as well. Some AMAZING gems of houses out there.

I agree with Steve36 and costello_musicman.
Gates Mills, Pepper Pike, Shaker Hts., etc. All great choices around there. 300k-400k can get you something very nice in a good area.

One thing you may want to look at... Cleveland has a LOT of private and parochial schools on the east side.
I think Chagrin Falls would be your best bet for what you're looking for. Like the others said, there's also Pepper Pike, Gates Mills, Mayfield Village, etc.

I would start by looking in Mayfield (heights or village). The schools are pretty good and it would obviouly be closest for your work. I wouldn't bother looking too hard in Gates Mills. its more expensive than mayfield, but is still the same school district.
If you are interested in catholic schools

I wouldn't rush to buy. You had better be sure you'll be here for a long time, otherwise good luck selling if you have to. Perhaps rent for a year or two before planting

We are in Bainbridge Township, a 44023 zip code just east of Chagrin Falls. Fabulous Kenston schools, and Chagrin Falls is 5-15 minutes, Mayfield Hts takes 20 to get to.

Solon is about 20-30 minutes from Mayfield Heights and has excellent schools, is fairly safe, many other young families. There are a few upscale developments with houses in your price range. Both Solon and Mayfield Heights are near the highway so you can easily get to many other places in town.
I'd also recommend Pepper Pike as being safe with excellent schools.
Beachwood would also fit, excellent schools, very safe, low taxes, many houses in your price range. Very close to upscale shopping, many nice city amenities. It's known for being a Jewish neighborhood but there are other religions represented.
I would probably stay away from Shaker Heights. The schools used to be good but are slipping, taxes are the highest in town, it's not nearly as safe as the more outlying neighborhoods, and the city seems to be in decline (just from a personal note, I know more people who are moving out of the city than moving in, and they are all pretty happy to have left). Plus, the commute from Shaker to Mayfield is rough as it's all local roads (no highways).
