Westlake, Rocky River and Bay Village are all nice, family-friendly areas with good schools. They are all located on the west side. The latter two are right along L. Erie, with good access to/views of the water.

I am going to agree with Lancaster. But those areas are a lil pricey, but if you have the money then go for it. Berea has some sign on their school about best testing scores, so they are doing something right. Havent heard any complaints about Lakewood. Also these 2 are right off highways so easy commute to Downtown. Also the cities Lancaster mentioned are right off 90 too. I would stay away from Cleveland because of the public school system, unless you are into private schools. Fairview Park is good too but not off a highway.

Thanks Pinipeanut! I forgot to even mention the proximity to I90 but yes, a commute to Downtown is much easier from the western 'burbs because of the freeway being there.

I'm not as familiar with Berea or Fairview Park, except I know that Berea's the home of Baldwin-Wallace, so they must put some emphasis on education there

Default Avon Lake

I live in Avon Lake (and have for 11 years), easy commute via 90, or Lake road. Great school system, friendly town and homes from moderately priced to over the top, depending on what/ where you are looking. I am in an older summer cottage area; walking distance to schools in a quiet neighborhood near a child friendly park - I can also walk to see the Lake,
