Help please: Moving to CLE, working at the airport(CLE), looking for places to live on the west side.
My husband, 2 year old son and I are moving in a few months to Cleveland. We looked around on the south side, Strongsville, and Brunswick back in March. We are coming for another visit next week and would like to look at specific neighborhoods in Rocky River, Avon Lake, and Bay Village. Any suggestions? We're ruling out the east side due to the long commute to the airport. Thanks so much in advance.

I heard good things from Strongville.
From what I have witnessed, North Omsted / Omsted township are very good, I can tell.

Yeah I live in North Olmsted. It is like 8 minutes to the airport, and has good neighborhoods. Plus all the shopping that you need. Looks like this is where you want to be!

North Olmsted or Berea. Just don't buy near that massive mall in NO. It's hell as Xmas time. lol
Nobody ever thinks of Berea but it is a great little gem of a town.

To be honest, Avon Lake, Lakewood, and Rocky River are some of the most beautiful communities in the USA. Personally, I'd be hard-pressed to consider moving elsewhere as these communities are so stellar.
However, I know some people from the North Olmstead area, and they seemed to like it (moved away as it was getting built-up). Probably visiting and getting a feel for each community would be the way to go.

I agree, and would also include Bay Village. North Olmsted, Strongsville, and Brunswick are pretty generic

I'd like to retract my North Olmsted comment, actually. I grew up there and couldn't left as soon as I was able (to Lakewood > then Cleveland proper). It was to built up. It's just one huge shopping mall....
The areas the others mentioned (and Berea darn it! LOL) would be better choices.

North Olmsted and Westlake. Both are close to the airport and both have great school systems. Just depends on the price range/age of home you are looking for. I think Westlake tends to be a little higher priced per square foot, but many of the homes are newer than North Olmsted.

All the communities mentioned are pretty much the same, with a few traffic differences, or racial differences; but the truth of the matter is that you will be fine with pretty much all communities on the west side, so you might as well pick the one closest to the airport: Brook Park, Berea, or North Olmsted.

My votes would be Rocky River, Berea, Lakewood...
Anything else you're lookinf for besides proximity?
