I know for some odd reason many of us like to belittle our town. Talk about haw scary it is. Some even insist on reporting every crime in this city unlike almost every other forum on this website. As if it was somehow much worse here then in LA or Chicago...

Snippet:

"But when the Angels go out hoping to deter crime, they rarely find it. The reason is pretty simple: Cleveland is not scary, though so many are convinced it is."

Excellent article, thanks for the link. I'm a Native Clevelander and it's nice to read something positive.

LOL...yeah really. Funny thing is we were in Ohio last winter for family obligations (S.E. Ohio), which generally has mild winters. Welllll there was very cold temps and lots of snow. My family accused me of bringing it with me from Alaska. I love the summers up here but could do without the ice that stays under the snow "all" winter long since temperatures rarely go high enough to melt it.

Yes, it is our own fear...and our own ignorance...that is killing us.

Again I have to agree with some and disagree with others.

There are definitely suburbanites and people outside the city who are scared to venture anywhere in Cleveland outside of downtown. It's exaggerated at times and people outside the city will never truly understand what it's like to live in the city, it's rough in most areas but it's not all bad times.

At the same time what has been said in this article could easily be said about Detroit. These blocks they're going through are not dense projects, they're mostly blocks filled with single or multi family homes, many of them abandoned so of course it's going to be quiet since almost noone is there.

I've had enough friends and family members killed in Cleveland to understand the dangers of the city. Not to mention all the other crimes committed against me, my family and friends. It really depends on who you're talking to and what they've experienced first hand. Still good article I suppose.
