^^ Fairview had 1. Lakewood had 2-3. I'm sure other suburbs have one or two as well.

Elyria really needs a new high school. My mom went to high school there and she said it was already in bad shape back then. The area right around the high school doesnt look too bad but it has the highest poverty rate in the city. You are right about how intact the neighborhood is though. There is hardly any vacant lots because if one house gets tore down or burnt down they usually put a fill in house. These can be seen all over the southside but most of the houses are the original ones. There are a lot of empty houses but most of them arent boarded up. Central Lorain has a lot of vacant lots and abandoned houses and definetely looks worse than South Elyria but crime is about the same.

I think Cleveland has had around 140 murders this year but there are so many estimates I dont know which ones true. I guess we'll see at the end of the year they should release a statement about it to the news. If East Cleveland has had 12 murders thats really bad. The city only has 25,000 people in 3 square miles so the murder rate would be 48 and Clevelands is really high at about 34.

I just read that Cincinnati has had 66 so far this year. The 2006 total of 89 was a modern-day record.

my guess is cleveland will stay around 130 murders. and i also predict that with clevelands 134 murders for 2007.the city will be named in the top 5 most murderous in the usa per capita. (134 murders divided by 435,000 people = 30.8 killings/100,000 residents). what a shame.

The homicide rate will only go up with people leaving the city every year.

I got up to 139 murders in Cleveland this year other than the one that just happened. I guess the final number is 134 murders. Im guessing this year Cleveland really isnt getting any better so I am estimating 138 murders this year.

Just going off the 134 murders (if the New Year's eve) shooting is a murder. Than Cleveland had a homicide rate of 33.00 for this past year.

That's just going off the 2006 population estimate by the census that has Cleveland at 406,000.

Personally, I think the number will be increased when it's said and done, and Cleveland will be between 135-140 murders. That would put the city at a range of 33.25 to 34.48.

Here are some of the numbers I've found from some other cities. Not all of these are official.

East St. Louis - 95.11 (30)
Gary, Ind. - 78.41 (67)
New Orleans - 70.84 (209)
Camden - 56.31 (45)
YOUNGSTOWN - 51.09 (36)
Baltimore - 44.66 (282)
EAST CLEVELAND - 44.09 (12)
East Chicago - 43.19 (14)
Richmond, Cali. - 45.62 (47)
CLEVELAND - 33.00 (134)
Oakland - 32.07 (121)
Washington - 31.12 (181)
Richmond, Va. - 28.51 (55)
Memphis - 24.87 (160)
Atlanta - 28.44 (126)
Philadelphia - 26.92 (390)
Miami - 24.01 (86)
CINCINNATI - 21.80 (66)
Pittsburgh - 19.18 (57)
Jacksonville - 18.75 (150)
Dallas - 16.77 (200)
Hammond, Ind. - 16.18 (13)
Chicago - 15.82 (435)
Phoenix - 14.96 (214)
San Francisco - 13.03 (97)
Boston - 11.47 (66)
Charlotte - 11.10 (72)
COLUMBUS - 10.99 (79)
Los Angeles - 10.22 (386)
New York - 5.94 (488)

These aren't all final numbers, but it gives an idea on murder rates this past year. In the next couple of days, I'll try to get more.
