I understand that Cincinnati is bad, but all Im saying is that its not as bad as Cleveland is. A lot of people dont even drive through neighborhoods in the wintertime, let alone the summertime. The summers in Cleveland are crazy, they have a lot of different spots where in the summer there will be hundreds of people sitting there dealing drugs. etc. the bad areas are much larger in Cleveland, they span from just east of downtown all the way to the inner ring suburbs, and on the westside. If you havent heard last summer there was 19 shootings and 6 murders in one day.

Cincinnati does have ghettos but its still majority white. Cuyahoga County also has an African American population twice as large as Hamilton County (200k to 400k). I have been to Lincoln Heights before and some areas of Cincinnati and Lincoln Heights wasnt that bad. Ive also been to one area of Over The Rhine and there are areas similar in Baltimore that look and are much worse than OTR. Like I said, I know Cincy is bad and it has ghettos even more than most cities but Cleveland is in its own league.

now its 332,000 as recognized by the feds. we had a down yr. you guys had one last yr when we were up. and again, i DO NOT believe that those lists are completely accurate. just a glimpse into who's struggling the most. and its not a cute nickname its the sad truth. a riot is essentially a 10-yr recession considering the billions of economic impact lost since 01.

here's a stat-how do you explain cinci with the higher murder/poverty rates in 06 than cleveland. anomaly? talk about ignoring ish...

your validity is only as good as your data
wrong about cinci's homicides in 07
wrong about cinci's pop. in 06/07
wrong for thinking morgan quitno has it 100%
wrong for comparing cleveland to much smaller cities like camden. its a few hoods with no tax base and no attractions worth risking it for alot of ppl

whats your hood?
I was off of the Cinci homicides by TWO.
I never listed Cinci's pop. in 06/07 but Cleveland has than 450,000 people now. But good call.
I never said Morgan Quinto is 100%.. by what means do you try and imply stuff now?
I compared Camden because of crime/poverty. Maybe your definition of 'comparing' for cities is different.. but that's all subjective anyways.

But what I do know. For Cinci being so much worse than Cleveland in crime, it still has far less homicides and less crime overall. I'd like to say congrats HILLSIDE for Cinci's 25% drop in homicides for 2007. That's good news. Now quit making baseless arguments.

Man, you sound like a scared little boy.

"lot of people dont even drive through neighborhoods in the wintertime, let alone the summertime." Hey, I think you're talking about my morning jogging routes in the summer from University Circle to Downtown during the week.

"in the summer there will be hundreds of people sitting there dealing drugs." I'm not even going to waste time commenting on this one -- just enjoyed it.

Not saying the city doesn't have its problems--it does. But you make my beloved city sound like a frikin war zone! Many of those shootings and murders were people caught up in things and were not random. I've lived IN Cleveland for a long time and have never had a major problem.

You should probably stay far in the westside suburbs.

Everybody calm down and start discussing in a civil matter or the thread will be closed and infractions will follow. Please.

im glad murders went down last yr in da nati...seriously...but does it mean anything this year? not really. i realize cleveland's problems are severe and its rare to have a once great city not be able to afford trash pickup seemingly overnight, but i cant see the dismissal of cincinnati. they are both in ohio...almost all of our major arteries are considered hoods, on any side of town except far east. cpd has world class corruption. as does cps and the county commissioner's office. true, blight is greater in some cities, but the numbers do stack up. 5 to 7 on the quitno list. 3 and 4 on the poverty list. 8 on the murder list. the entire westside is considered a rough part of town. the pete rose side. cincy loves him bc they know or are westside scum just like him .

hood=-
nt hood=+37-12 i think
75%

not gonna argue if its worse than cleveland bc i actually feel they are completely diff cities with similar problem levels. still like to see some cleveland hoods...

YouTube - Cleveland Feels the Pain of Real Estate Foreclosures

That video explains about the home closures in Slavic Village area of Cleveland. Hint: Highest in the nation.

And Cleveland has one of the highest public housing per capita.

1st of all when did this turn into a competition??? Both the cities are bad but there is no doubt that Cleveland is worse, case closed. Cleveland is not a warzone but it is almost as close to a warzone that you can get in America, truest me Ive been to a lot of places. I love Cleveland too and I hope it heads in a positive direction but the city is doing horrible right now.

To Costellomusicman: I sound like a scared little boy??? Ive actually heard people say they wouldnt drive around Cleveland in the summertime, thats not my quote. Ive SEEN Liquor stores on the Eastside with close to 100 people in front of them, and a lot of them were drug dealers. Ive also SEEN streets in East Cleveland that were packed with people fighting, drinking, selling. And yes I do live in the suburbs now (North Ridgeville) but I grew up in the worst neighborhood in Elyria (SouthSide). In the summertime I used to hear gunshots a lot and we had gangs and a lot of people dealing drugs so dont act like I dont know what I am talking about. And there are Clevelanders that are scared to go outside of their house. Didnt you hear of all the innocent people who were killed in Cleveland?, remember Cookie Thomas, along with like 20 others, its not all about drugs. I know a lot about Cleveland-Ive visited my friends in the bad areas and I love the city but it is very violent.
