If you remember, Cleveland is also hosting the 2013 Senior Games (Cleveland to host Senior Games in 2013 | Metro - cleveland.com - cleveland.com). It's great for the city to go after these type of massive hosting events. Cleveland is really a great event town--you can't argue that!

Progressive my arse, this is all about the $$$. If this were not making the city any money, you wouldn't see any progressiveness.

This proposal was obviously somewhat controversial and not w/out its nay sayers...and yea there will be some revenue generated what is so bad about 20,000 people from all over the world enjoying our great city for a few weeks?

Being progressive is about promoting all facets of life and business in a manner which holds equality and the common good in high regard. Progressives aren't against people making money or being rich, they're against people obtaining wealth in a way that discriminates against or impoverishes others. This will do neither. Hence, it is progressive.

If it was all about the $$$, it would have been easier to pitch a Bud Light tent and put up a sign that said "Free Beer!! Free 'Dale E. #3' Can Coozie!! Admission - $100.00" we'd have racist, gun-toting, homophobic rednecks streaming in from miles around.
