Default Comments from a Pittsburger

Standing outside Great Lakes Brewing Company in Ohio City having a smoke last night.
Guy stops on the way in as his buddies continue inside.
"This bar sell cigarettes?"
"I have no idea, need 1?"
"Sure!"
We start chatting. He works for PNC and is in town for 2 weeks helping NCB switch over.
Some of the positive comments he had to say about Cleveland:

"I am blown away by how nice people are here"
"You guys have some of the coolest bars in your downtown area and these cool little urban neighborhoods"
"I can't stop staring out the window of my hotel with the view of Lake Erie"
"I really think Cleveland women are better looking then Pittsburgh women" (that was a bit of a joke)
and of course:
"to bad your football team sucks. It's much more fun when it's an exciting Pit-Cle game"

But then I said:
"Yea, but Pittsburgh is a great little town, right? All we hear about is how great things are there and how your city reinvented itself!"
"We didn't get hit as hard with foreclosures, like you did, or double digit unemployment .... but don't let anyone kid you....
PITTSBURGH IS A DUMP!"

lol!!

It's all in your perspective, it's hard as a Cleveland fan to like anything Pittsburgh, but from my few visits there, it's a pretty city. The natural setting on the three rivers, the view from PNC Park (at least Pittsburgh has one awful team in the Pirates!). There must be something good about the city for them to have been chosing to hold the G-20 meeting last month and for 8 Fortune 500 companies to be located there.

I think Cleveland gets a bad rap. I was expecting the worst when I first visited and was pleasantly surprised. But, Pittsburgh is anything but a dump.

Pittsburgh has much better inner city neighborhoods than Cleveland does. I think Cleveland's downtown is better, as well as it's suburbs. The lake factor also goes a long way in my book.
