Someone told me if you park in the street by a meter after 6pm and all day weekends it is free, and you do not have to feed the meter at all. Is this true?

Usually, yes. Pay attention to the parking signs in the area. The hours posted are the ones you must feed the meter during. Otherwise, you can park there for free without being ticketed.

True pretty much everywhere downtown. NOT true in Coventry. I don't think those 'parking lot' meters are ever free.

do the 2 hour parking signs around many meters apply on weekends or can we park at that meter all day in Cleveland on weekends?

I would say you can ignore it on the weekends or after 6pm on weekdays, so long as your in Cleveland. As someone said before, places like Coventry in Cleveland Heights or Lakewood on the Westside have different policies.

Maybe it changed recently, but I parked in Coventry last week, and it's printed right on the meter, parking is free after 6pm.
