So after looking through (it seems like) a million threads on communities, I've decided to try and find an apartment in the Lakewood/Edgewater area.

I drove down Lake Avenue and thought it was gorgeous! However, I heard edgewater drive (gold coast, etc) was very safe. I plan on walking my dog with the old ladies hehe.

I'm trying to find a building...but it seems like when I find one that 1. fits my price range (up to $800/mo) 2. allows dogs 3. is attractive...I find out that the management sucks (i.e. The Edgewater @12505)

Does anybody know a building where the tenants are happy living there?

The buildings I was looking at are
-on 110th and Lake Avenue (can't find a name)
-Poinciana Apartments on Lake at 117th
-The Edgewater
-The Barclay (in cleveland heights)
-Edgewater South (gold coast)

Advice? More suggestions?

Try the Edgewater-Cove building. They don't adverstise except with a little sign outside when an apartment is available, but I did see a sign the last time I drove by (maybe 2 weeks ago?)

I put very little stock in apartment reviews. More people post reviews when they are unhappy as opposed to happy. That skews all "review" sites. Not to mention, you don't know the people posting the reviews.
The guy that posts about how his landlord is always harassing him about this or that could be the guy that was cooking meth in the bathroom or having friends over till 2am partying like mad.
Right?

You can't go wrong with the Gold Coast. I would suggest that.

Goldcoast is where I'm hoping to relocate soon here. Awesome area and close to lots of night life, if it's your thing.. You have Lakewood bars/clubs/night time eateries, as well as Tremont, Ohio City, and Downtown all within a quick drive or rapid.

Goldcoast is for sure a place I'm hoping to live...it's just a matter of which building. Which buildings are you looking at, WeSoHood? Any that were definitely a "no"?

I was looking at The Shoreham, and am expecting to move in come fall. It's $750 person (2 of us) and the floor plan is really nice. Some other people I know live in it, so I looked into moving there as well.

For $800 a month price range, if you are able to find someone else to live with, you can get a REALLY nice place in The Shoreham

The Shoreham Apartments Apartments For Rent in Lakewood, Ohio - Apartment Rental and Community Amenities - ForRent.com

Look at the photos, the 3rd one is the floor plan I am going to hopefully move into, and it's within your price range. The top of the building has a great view of Downtown.. it has a patio and some tables up there.

Berkshire is really nice, I had the impression it was only condos though and not rentals. But I really can't say if it is or isn't.

It is condos. But many condo owners offer their units for rent. Same is true of other condo buildings on the Gold Coast as well.

If you do not mind not having service and lynn and larry lying to you whenever you have a problem, just take your pets over there and have a great old time.
