Default Commute from Hudson to Strongsville

I recently took a position in Strongsville, and am thinking about buying a house in Hudson. What would the commute look like - mapquest says 30 minutes, but I'm hearing about congestion, especially in the winter. Since we are coming from Chicago, neither scares me, but would like to get a real feel about the commute time.

The quickest way to get to Strongsville is to take the Turnpike (I-80) so it is going to cost you every trip. We recently got EZ pass too, so that may make it a little easier. I think it is .75 each way between OH-8 and I-71.

Maybe someone else can comment on this as well, cause I don't take the turnpike everyday, but only on rare occasion have I seen the Turnpike backed up. Snow shouldn't be too much of a problem, most of the snow falls on the East side of Cleveland and ODOT does a good job clearing the turnpike.

Thanks - what kind of timeframe would you expect on average? About 30 minutes or so?

I would say about 30-35 minutes on average sounds right. For bad weather, it may take a little more, but both ODOT and Hudson do a very good job cleaning the roads.

Coming from Chicago, you'll laugh at the so-called "congestion." The turnpike is never backed up. From the Route 8 interchange (Hudson area) to the I-71 interchange (Strongsville area) along I-80 is about a 20 minute drive at 65 MPH (I do the drive every week at least twice). The rest will depend on 'where from' in Hudson to 'where to' in Strongsville. I'd say to add about another 10-20 minutes in good weather.
